Note to Idiot

Dear stupid delivery truck driver,

Kindly note that this is New England you're driving in, not Merrye Olde England. I realize it's confusing, what with the Thames River (though we do pronounce it differently) and all the British town names. But I'm not sure quite how you've managed to forget which side of the Atlantic you're on ( Read more... )

He probably didn't know what a rotary is. It's a roundabout in British English, as far as I know. ;-)

My mother once went the wrong way round a roundabout. A roundabout with a police station built in the middle.

*dies of embarrassment*

At least it was five in the morning, so nobody noticed.

At least it was five in the morning, so nobody noticed.

Truck drivers drive me nuts. Idiots, most of them. And 100 degrees? I would expire ...

I'm wondering if the incident happened in Connecticut. If it did than I may know where it happened since we only have one or two in the whole state and live one town away from the one I definitely know about which has a funny story attached to it for me.

Yup, Connecticut. And I realize there are fewer here than in MA, but still! LOL

So which town has your funny story? Stonington? Hartford? Norwich? Those are the three I can think of off the top of my head.

The one in Stonington that's at Routes 184 and 2.

The funny story is that the drivers ed manual states that drivers entering the circle should yield to drivers all ready on the circle. However, the signange at that circle had it that those on the circle should yield to those entering.

When I was studying for my license, my dad noticed the difference and wrote to the DMV. The signs were changed to match what was in the book. The funny part was the letter my dad got thanking him for pointing out the problem with the signs. It seems that the DMV and the Department of Transportation forgot that the had a traffic circle there.

Somehow, that doesn't surprise me!

And really, I'd have been far less annoyed if he'd at least looked apologetic about almost smashing into me head on, instead of glaring at me like I was the one who messed up! Harumph.

Ahh, thanks for the lovely cool breeze!
