According to their website, Purina is still uneffected by this recall. I hope that is true because Onyx continues to eat their dry food. I am a nervous wreck over this and have to acknowlege that there is no way I can feed her correctly without packaged foods - I can't even feed myself without packaged food.
The problem is that it's apparently up to the company to issue the recall. Hopefully they're safe.
I'm in a similar boat, though it's not that I can't cook from scratch so much as I generally can't be bothered if I'm cooking for just myself, which is usually the case. It's easier to motivate myself to cook for others, so if I had animals, though, so I could probably get myself to do it.
I agree about the much easier to motivate if cooking for others.. I got myself in so much trouble for saying that "I didn't think I was worth the extra dirty pot." once when I wanted something different for dinner. Boy did I get in trouble for that statement.
They are still stating on the website that you "can feed with confidence" - gods I pray that is true. I know there is wheat gluten in the product so I'm nervous.
Ouch. OK, I can see the getting in trouble for putting it that way, I suppose, because obviously you are worth it. I totally get the sentiment, though.
What would be really nice is if they'd just put up a honking big "we do not use tainted crap" banner. Or, ok, to be a bit more professional "no Chinese grains or grain products were used in the production of this pet food."
