Um, you must not have been 'round here for the ever popular Blizzard of '78. I was. Week off from school. What fun that was.
How did I survive it? On my birthday, no less? Stayed in and watched TV. Fortunately, I had recorded Stargate SG1, Stargate Atlantis, and Battlestar Galactica from Friday night, so we watched that... watched candlepin bowling... watched Parenthood on TBS, saw most of an Eddie Izzard DVD, watched the game... had grilled cheese sarnies and soup for lunch... made homemade chicken and dumplings for dinner... got a really good backrub, had a piece of really good chocolate satin pie for dessert, watched Numb3rs... slept. Good day, all in all...
Not do it again? This is New England. We'll do it again at some point... :)
We watched candlepin bowling too!! (Ok, to be fair, Steve watched candlepin bowling and I wandered in and went "Why are you watching candlepin bowling?" (although us Rhode Islandahs call it "duckpin bowling"))
I watched Numb3rs too, what did you think? DO think the series will survive? I thought it was decent although I kept thinking "wow, the kid from 'Ten Things I Hate About You' all grown up...not bad!"
I was out shoveling at 8 AM yesterday. No real complaints, except the asshole plow guys buried the corner I shovled out for the kids about a half hour after I shovled it.
I managed to avoid going in to work for my scheduled 8am on Sunday, but I also didn't get to leave at midnight like I was supposed to. I wound up driving all the way to Bristol for 6pm and leaving at 6am. Then I brought my dad's Explorer back so my mom could take it to work, then drive BACK to Bristol at 11 and just left at 6.
Luckily we had slow nights. Otherwise I'd be highly disgruntled right now. Fortunately I won't be disgruntled until somewhere during my 24-hour shift on Thursday - the Johnston station is about 4562457895365468455 times busier than Bristol.
