I love me some books!

Has anyone here read the Kushiel's Legacy series by Jacqueline Carey?  It's all I've been doing for the past month.  I'm not a fast reader, but the speed at which I've been gobbling these books up is ferocious.

If you have read them I would like to discuss them.

If you haven't read them... well, you can (legally) download for free the first bookRead more... )

You should look into Tuebl, if you haven't already. You can post your work there for free as a way to introduce yourself to readers.

Again, I don't know much about Tuebl, but that seems to be its purpose.

I loved "Kushiel's Dart" and its sequels. I like the concept of the Blessed Elua, who was made from the blood of Jesus spilled at the Crucifixion mixed with Mother Earth. I love how his precept, "Love as thou wilt" has become a way of life in Terre D'Ange. I love how there is the Court of the Night-Blooming Flowers, otherwise known as the Night Court. It's not really gone into a whole lot in the first book, but by the third book we learn more about some of the other Houses and their specialties.

I highly recommend this trilogy.

I've now finished all three trilogies (9 books total) and I enjoyed them very much.

I really loved the mythology too, with Blessed Elua and his companions. I like that prostitution is a sacred calling. I love that Kushiel's punishment was harsh, but delivered with love, so that the souls who had completed their penance and were ready to move on to heaven were like, "No, we'll stay here and get punished some more." I like that all gods are real and no religion is "wrong." There's a lot about the mythology within the series that I like.
