I won't go into the how of it all, but I was given a free ticket to see Sight & Sound Theatres' epic musical adaptation of the Moses story.

I saw there production of the Nativity story about three Christmases ago and it was insane and kind of over the top that I actually felt a little uncomfortable.

But it's definitely worth the trip to Lancaster and plus, you get eat some fabulous food--shoefly pie anyone? :):)

When I think about the Moses story I think of Cecile B Demile's Ten Commandments. It's hard to be more over the top than that, so I didn't get the feeling that this was too much.

And, unfortunately, we didn't have good food. It wasn't awful food, it was serviceable, but it wasn't like "OMG, I gotta eat this again."

That sounds like a hoot! Not real babies in the baskets surely? I hope the animals are well treated.

No, it wasn't a real baby. it was a real basic and the recorded cries of a real baby were played.

I hope the animals are well treated too. They looked healthy. No one hit them, but no one was particular affectionate with them either.

I seriously never heard of Sight and Sound when living in PA. I may need to check it out some visit. I do love a good spectacle. Of course, I won't share that I'm Catholic. If they're anything like the born-agains or baptists I know, their mission in life will be to convert me away to "real" Christianity. *Sigh*

BTW, we have a famous attraction in my area called "Pageant of the Masters." It's basically great works of art recreated with half-paintings and half-people done with great lighting and music appropriate to each piece. It's a real treat. I've only gone twice, but I was glad I rented binoculars as you can barely tell where the people end and the paint begins. If you ever find yourself in Orange County, that's the thing to see. I think Arrested Development even satirized it.

I hadn't heard about Sight & Sound either until a couple years ago, and then only because my mother was given a ticket and went to a performance.

Tickets are expensive, so get someone else to pay for it.

Also, I'm always amazed at Catholics not being real Christians. You may be a pagan in sheep's clothing, but at least you're better than an atheist.

As I was reading your description I was thinking, that sounds like what they did on Arrested Development.

I about died when I saw that episode. IIRC, he got out of prison just to be in it! As awesome as the Pageant is, there are people that are super/way too hardcore about doing it. I mean, it's all volunteer/unpaid, so I suppose you'd have to be to dedicate the time. Plus there's probably some status/bragging rights in being chosen.

Oh, no. We're worse than being an atheist or agnostic. If there's one thing fundamentalists hate more than someone not being religious, it's being religious and doing it wrong. LOL. Not that there aren't Catholic fundamentalists out there. We got em, but they usually splinter off into their own "real" Catholic churches/cults and claim the pope is a demonic replicant or some shit and Vatican II never happened.

We'll have to agree to disagree on who's worse, Catholics or atheists.

One of my brothers married a Fundamentalist, the other a Catholic. (I know this sounds like the set up for a joke, but it isn't.) When my father was dying both sets of in-laws (not the wives, but their families), were incredibly insensitive about making sure my father "came to God" before he died. At least with the Catholics they only approached my brother's wife. The Fundamentalists harped on my mother about it until she had to go to my brother and get him to tell them to stop.
