“Of all the ways to go, really,” she scoffs. “A stray arrow in the chest? Really, Robin, I expected much more out of you. Perhaps a vicious fight to the death with the Sheriff? Or Guy, you might have enjoyed that one more. Or both. Honestly, I’d always thought you’d waltz in here covered battle scars from head to toe with a story for each one of ( Read more... )

Thank you so much for sharing this! It was beautiful, and fun, and sweet. I love this idea of them spending eternity together, and how annoyed she was at him for dying from a stray arrow!

Then you go and use a quote from my favorite movie. :)

Loved it!

You're so, so, so welcome! I originally wrote this as a source of therapy for my BROKEN Robin/Marian heart; by now I think it's healing quite nicely. I figured Marian would be annoyed by the stray arrow -- it's rather anticlimactic, if you think about it =D

YES. The Princess Bride is so amazing, isn't it? I knew from the very beginning that I would HAVE to use that quote in here. If you think about it, the story was basically built around that quote.

Thanks for reading!

I copied down an insane number of lines from this so I could tell you they were my 'absolute favourite' lol. But I won't waste your time by making you read your own writing again.

You ended with The Princess Bride. Which was just lovely, and given the subject matter so fitting it brought a tear to my eye.

When Robin saw the future that could never be, and told Carter he wasn't crying...I was crying. Poor Robin. Poor Marian. Thank goodness they have found each other in the after life at last. (And whilst on that note it was lovely having an appearance by Carter :P)

Okay I lied, I will put one here because this,
It’s only a dream, he realizes. It always is. was so sad, and reminded me of that scene with Isabella in the well in season 3, when he tells her for him it will always be a dream. I wanted to give him a big hug lol. (Don't tell anyone...but secretly I always do :P)

Oh, one great moment that made me laugh was Robin being all blunt,
“I never thought we’d end up like this.”
“What, dead?”...I can just imagine her exasperated ( ... )

Haha, oh my goodness, you should NEVER be afraid of copying down your favorite lines. I love hearing about the lines that stood out to people :D ( ... )

Oh god yes...you can just imagine his face, seeing that now lost future played out before his eyes. Heartbreaking.

I really hope she stays alive in fiction for a long time to come. I'm too new to the fandom lol...so I'm not ready to let Robin/Marian go yet. :P

...A humble contribution? Absolutely not. A fantastic contribution. I loved it because whilst I love the happy au fics of "Marian didn't die"...I like this take on it, because like Marian says, she hopes they have forever in heaven.

Season 3 hasn't been very inspiring...and the closer it gets to the end the closer it comes to Robin leaviing, so...it's sad.

I'm very, VERY new to the fandom as well. XP I think I only started watching it a few months ago. March, perhaps. I'd heard of it earlier, but I went and dug up some spoilers and when I read that Marian died, I was just, I HATE TRAGEDIES, GRR and tried not to watch it? But come on. It's Robin Hood. You HAVE to watch it xD

I love the AU fics too, but I wanted to write something that was still plausibly canon. Although, since Jonas Armstrong's leaving now... well, I don't know anymore XD

*is speechless*

That was amazing. It made me laugh and cry and love those two more than ever. It was perfect, absolutely perfect. Thank you so, so much for sharing.

By the way, love the Princess Bride quote. =D

Oh, thank you! ♥ Speechless is good. It's great. Haha.

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I really wanted to capture the ups and downs of Robin and Marian's relationship. It's such a fantastic relationship and I hated its tragic demise in Season 2 so much that I had to attempt to fix it in a way that it didn't hurt so much anymore XD

You're so welcome. I love sharing the crazy things my mind comes up with.

YES! Everyone loves the Princess Bride quote. Honestly, the story was built around it. I love that movie. To satisfy the Cary Elwes craving I watched Men In Tights the other day and couldn't stop laughing XD

I love that you fixed without changing it. Most fics go AU and as fun as those are to read I really enjoyed getting a happy ending that could totally be canon.

I get tons of crazy story ideas, but I'm a rubbish writer. So I really enjoy reading the cool and crazy things other people write.

Of course, it just fits them so perfectly (and it comes from the greatest movie ever >.<). I love both those movies so much. In fact, I'm now going to have to watch Men In Tights again. I haven't seen it in years!

Oh my goodness. This was absolutely lovely. Thank you. I'm more of a Guy 'shipper, but this was so right for Robin and Marian. You caught both of them beautifully. I can completely see her punching Robin in the nose and being offended by his demand to sew his shirt. I don't often get teary, but this did it (in a good way). It's a perfect and beautiful end to their story.

Thank you so much! You know, Guy is definitely growing on me. He's got that whole tortured-soul thing down PERFECTLY which is always sort of appealing, I think... :D

I'm so glad you liked it. I definitely enjoyed writing it as well. Now I can watch the Season 2 finale and go, NO, THAT IS NOT HOW IT *TRULY* ENDED BECAUSE SOMETHING ELSE HAPPENED AFTERWARD, darn it. :D

I just read this again (I do love it so) and it had me all teary, yet again.

“Is this some sick joke?” he demands of no one in particular. “Showing me - showing me what could have been? Showing me everything that’s been taken away from me? It’s not funny, it’s -” He’s horrified to discover tears burning their way down his face.

Oh, oh Robin. *sniffle*

And after the season 3 finale, this story just works perfectly.

Oh, thank you! ♥ I'm really proud of this, myself. I think it's my favorite out of everything I've ever written. And for a dying fandom, too. Ah, the irony.

SERIOUSLY to the finale. I hope this doesn't make me sound like I've got a god-complex or something, but after the Season 3 finale, where she APPEARS TO HIM AS HE IS DYING and is all "I WAS WAITING FOR YOU" I was just, "OMG. THAT IS MY FIC. MY FIC. MIIIIINE." DX

But here! Look what I found tucked at the end of the Word document that contained my fic.

Haha I thought of your story, too, actually. Amongst all the "OH GOD YAY" and the sniffling.

The next comment?

Epilogue of sorts:

The afterlife had been a peaceful place in general. Everybody for the most part got along quite well, and it was rare for fights to break out.

That, of course, was until Robin and Marian showed up, for it wasn’t long before the novelty of finally being in each other’s presence had worn off and they’d reverted back to their bickering ways.

Today they found themselves on a particularly fat cloud, where they’d been happily checking in with the world of the living - Djaq had just given birth to twins - when Marian had made an off-hand comment on the faithfulness and devotion Djaq and Will showed each other.

“I have been nothing but one hundred and ten percent faithful to you,” Robin insisted.

She stared at him, arching an eyebrow, before coughing into her hand, a cough that sounded suspiciously like “Isabella.”

He glared, and choked out a “Gisborne.”

She let out a gasp of disbelief. “We weren’t even married yet ( ... )
