*GASP* YES. I THINK we now have the support of the Pittsburgh press, or at least their attention.

check out the pitt news and the post gazette today. there's some fun stuff. Actually I'll show you when i see you next. It even includes Obama saying that he didn't bring his daughters because the riot police scared him, and that he was really frightened by what he saw going on in Oakland-- how does he think we feel?

Also, I'll go check out Pitt News now. ^^; I did find some interesting stuff on the Post Gazette today.

The president does not have the power to stop a mob, or to get involved in local affairs. State and federal are two distinctly separate entities--local is even MORE separate. Do you have any idea how giant a can of worms that would have opened if he even tried? How many people still have confederate flags slapped on their cars ( ... )

I see your point, especially since some of the students were apparently yelling horrible names to the police to begin with. BUT, we already know that the police far outnumbered the students Friday night (which is when most of the arrests happened) and that almost all the police were from out of state. Also, there were hundreds of students and twenty protestors. Sure, they all looked alike, but personally I htink they could have tried harder to differentiate between the kids standing on their own campus, walking around to dinner or whatever, and the people from out of town that were actually causing ruckus ( ... )
