FBI invades Road Atlanta? Day 2.1

Oct 02, 2008 19:29

Super-famous multiple Indy 500-winning driver Helio Castroneves (yes, the smiling Brazilian dude on "Dancing With The Stars") has just been arrested here at Road Atlanta. I was having a yummy catered dinner at Peugeot's hospitality suite when I got the news. Four big black Suburbans rolled in and took Castroneves, his sister, and his lawyer into ( Read more... )

I've only been to RA once and was terribly intimidated by it until I got on track. Once I was out there I was surprised at how quickly I was comfortable and within a short time was running pretty quickly.

If you ever need a bag boy to help you on your trips, please let me know! This aspiring young journalist would love to learn more from a pro.

[humbled smile] I'm flattered by the terminology, but if I was really a pro at this, I'd be making a living doing it.

I am quite anxious to take in some racing closer to home - I've only been out to Summit Point once (for the 12 Hrs) and I loved it.

I almost always have help for Sebring in March, but the last 2 trips to Atlanta have been solo. Next year, maybe we'll see! It's always more fun having someone along.

So, did they chase him out onto the track, and if so how did those Suburbans do against the field??

Word is, there was no real drama that took place. I'm still trying to find a photographer -- anyone -- who got a snap of it.

I'm just amazed that in the time it took for me to collect all the info I could, he was back on the circuit for night practice.

*pokes you*

I do too read e-mail. Just September was my first experience being in a job where I had to be wrapped up in doing stuff for fiscal year-end. I never realized there was so much to it!

Yay David! I miss him.

Please give Earl my best wishes. He's an awesome guy and always looked out for me while I was there.

I'll feel very sorry for the person they bring in to fill his position when he's gone.

I also hope that I'm getting far ahead of myself, here. I hope I'm wrong.

There's no one that could fill his shoes, IMO.

I do, too.

Also, almost getting run over by a golf cart is better than almost getting run over by a race car. (Ha! I remembered that story!)

Excellent!

Your icon reminds me: You might have liked the Aston Martin DBR9, but you'd absolutely swoon over the Vantage GT2. It's smaller, lighter, and sounds almost as menacing as the GT1 Corvettes.

Glad you didn't get hit by the golf cart... I'm not sure you could hate golf much more than you already do.
