The last Harry Potter movie will be split into two parts to filmed simultaneously.  The first part will come out in November 2010, and the second part will be released in May 2011.  The reason sited - the creators' inability to drop out some of the material out of the final book, unlike the prevous ones.

More likely than not. Although HP&DH does have a lot of stuff that will be hard to throw out and keep the story moving smoothly. I guess one sketchy movie would have been OK for the vast majority of viewers, since everybody has read the book. On the other hand, maybe they think that if somebody watched the movie not knowing the books, he would be totally confused unless they make it into two very detailed parts.
