[backdated to sometime very shortly after his return to the ship and a bit before Long Night . . . this part is supposed to be private - he's not aware it's set to the Way's filter - he's murmuring softly to himself, sounds upset and frightened]
G-gods of the firmament! I-I didn't know . . . didn't know it was possible . . . to be s-so . . . I-It

Actors . . . ? [that...actually seems to help. A lot. It gives him something familiar to focus and ground himself on.] Yes, sir! Yes, we are!
Well . . . "w-we"? [c-coughs]
If confidence is something that can be taught, sir, I'm certainly willing to try to learn. Especially a-after . . . the past few . . . weeks. [has slowed down in an attempt to /not/ stutter as he starts to get just a bit upset again with memories, speaking carefully] It . . . was a very trying time. I . . . thought I was past certain things. I'm . . . not.
[pulls a deep breath, getting "back to business"] Is . . . there something I should be doing to prepare for Long Night, sir?

A little slow, but that will have to suffice for now.
Oh, I suppose I'll play the part of helpful informant, just this once. Long Night is long. Keep your wits about you and hope you don't see any ghosts or monsters. Don't get in the way of irritable crew members. Now, were you paying attention?

[this is him nodding, even though he knows Joshua can't see it...if he took a moment to actually think about that] Yes, sir! Very much. So . . . that means . . . You're saying I don't necessarily have to stay in a trunk for the night, so long as I'm careful, sir? A-and what should I do if I do see ghosts or monsters?

Unless that's what you want...
I thought that would be common sense. Run or hide; I'm sure you're small enough to fit somewhere discreet. If the threat is particularly dangerous, warn the rest of the ship. That kind of thing.

Ah! N-no, sir! No more trunks, no chests! [bit of a panic there for a second, but then he regains control] I'll . . . I'll be careful, sir. And I'll warn the crew if I see anything. Thank you.

I'm sure you can handle that.
