If you click on the picture it takes you through to the Countryfile article on the solstice I lifted it from.

It's short, but I thought quite interesting 😊

Thankyou.... i have passed the site of Stonehenge on our way to (wherever we were going on holiday at the time, my brain isn't functioning right at this moment) but we never made the detour to check it out.

One of the joys about being stuck in traffic on the A303 is Stonehenge - one summer it was so slow moving tourists were getting out to take pics !

It is, isn't it?

Can't take the credit - it's from a Countryfile article on the solstice, if you click on the pic it should take you through 😊

God yeah.

We have about 30 minutes more daylight than you right now, still depressing though--this weekend we switch to standard time, so sunset will be 16:40 or so. I wish they wouldn't, I really prefer daylight time when there's more light in the evening.

It does give Stonehenge an impressive glow though :)

Our clocks usually go back on the last weekend in October - it gets a bit brighter in the mornings for a bit, then the day gradually compresses.

I used to drive past Stonehenge on the way to work back in the day. The whole of Salisbury plain, which surrounds it, is basically a military training ground - so at half-past six in the morning it's eerily quiet with about a foot of mist covering the land.

I almost expected to see a band of my ancestors appear. It's very atmospheric. And as I'm only an early bird if you pay me, something I'd not see by inclination !

The picture clicks through to the article on the solstice I took it from - but I'm not sure how accessible it is outside the UK.
