The Deed is Done

Well, we are home from "The Big Snip."  And doggies are doing good, we just have to keep an eye on them so that they don't lick too much.  (As I write this I am hearing a rhythmic sound that means... of course, licking.)

The day began as usual with our regular 30-40 minute walk up the side road.  No dogs out and no rabbits today and the wind was ( Read more... )

I hate that part. I really do. When Nyssa got there, I spent days with her, just praying she'd go on her own, because I didn't want to take her to the clearing at the end of the path. Best of luck with the Old Man.

And good doggies.

thanks. Of course he says he's just fine, give him more chicken, so I guess who are we to argue...

Yay repaired doggies! When I got my last dog fixed, he took it really hard; he was almost two, bless his little heart, and his previous abusive owners had of course not fixed him. He was also pretty dainty, though--but I felt like a monster. I'm glad your guys are doing okay.

Good thoughts for your kitty too. It's so tough.

Thanks. They seem to be fine now and want to know why they can't go outside to run like the wind and tear their sutures.

Hopefully the doggies will lose interest in their stitches and so avoid the Cone of Shame. I'm sorry to hear about the Old Man's time is near; love is hard.

Thinking good thoughts for you all.

Thanks. I don't think the cone of shame will be necessary- they seem to have decided to leave their groins alone. Although when I took them for a brief walk Teddy was fussing a bit. Maybe it pulled. Geordie says, no way, I'm fine. But his number twos are getting increasingly wetter even tho he ate--make that stole from Zander and then ate, a huge mouse yesterday.

Stress can play havoc on doggie digestive systems (or at least we have had experience that it does!) and considering what they went through (to say nothing of the effects of sedation); hopefully it will clear up asap.

eta: oh wait, I think I misread - I thought you meant Teddy was having bowel issues on his walk.

I think I still have pictures of my poor Maggie from when she got snipped and we put a tube sock on her to keep from licking. She looked so affronted at the insult to her dignity.

Best of luck with your Old Man. It never gets any easier, does it, but he's lucky to have you to take care of him, however it shakes out.

Thanks, at the moment Geordie-Old Man Cat is curled up on the bed claiming that he's fine.

You can always make coneheads out of them but that will probably traumatize them. From my experience working in the animal hospital though the majority of them never even look at their stitches more than twice. I hope your boys are in that category.

*hugs to both of you about Old Man Cat* Been there, done that... way too many times to talk about. Each time is different and not one has been easy, but I used to tell people that I think you just kind of know when it's time. *hugs* Good luck.

Thanks. The boys seem to have given up on wondering what's going on down there. The amusing part will be if we put their microchip tags on their collars. They've already nibbled the ends down to nubs. The plastic (Teddy loves to chew plastic) tags might not last too long. And of course Geordie is in the, "I'm fine, no I'm crossing over any minute now, wait I'm fine why are you fussing," phase.
