Skyfall

Late to the game, I know, but I finally got around to watching Skyfall tonight. It had some good parts, most of which I was already aware were coming, but alright all the same. Q was fantastic. The part where he wanted M to shoot herself to kill him annoyed me, because we've already seen her establish that the needs of the many outweigh the life of the one. Yeah, I get it, it's so much harder to make that decision when it's your own life to be sacrificed, but still. Mostly I just kept thinking of all the mommy issues this movie brought out and wondering if the new agents are going to imprint on the new M as a daddy.

I really liked how very psychoanalytical that movie is. Not at all what I would expect from a Bond movie! I think if John and Sherlock ever watched it, John would probably be grumbling that it isn't at all like proper Bond movies are supposed to be. And then Mycroft would entangle him in a very weird argument about the Oedipal themes or something...

Whishaw is a delight as Q but I'm still totally puzzled that fandom came away from this movie with Q/Bond as the next big ship.
