Props... .

Today I attended the first day of Otafest, a local anime con, with the husband.  Fantastic con, but there was one little hiccup.

I'm legally blind.  I have a CNIB card.  I also use a white cane.

At all the conventions I've ever been to, all props (swords, staffs, guns, etc.) need to go through prop and/or weapons check, at which time they are marked

I think you should write to the con and tell them what happened and what you noticed, and ask them to please make sure that their policy exempts ALL actual assistive devices from this and that ALL props receive the required marking, no matter what. That's ridiculous.
