You really ARE a badass mofo; I hope you know that! I know you're too humble to shout it out loud, but I know everybody who's ever crossed your path would agree with me.
Trombones...they are the best! As a kid, my mom played a lot of jazz and blues. She had a Sweet Emma record recorded when she was doing a lot at Preservation Hall. Big Jim Robinson's playing always stuck out.
Being a ska geek, I always dug Don Drummond. Cynthia's favorite trombonist has always been Vinnie Nobile, from Bim Skala Bim.
I've only heard a little bit of Jack Teagarden, and didn't know he was from Vernon until you mentioned it.
With you, the collection is in good hands, and I wish you all the best in bringing it all back home to where it belongs. (And I'm glad you got to visit with Joe before his passing :( )
