Book meme I stole from pretty much everyone

Okay, I felt like doing this 'cos I like book memes. Apparently this is a list of books LibraryThing's users most often mark as unread. The original meme speculates that people leave these on the shelves to make them look smart or well-rounded. I won't even go into that, because it'll give me a headache.

Anyway the idea is: bold what you've read, ( Read more... )

I'm glad I wasn't the only one to hate Time Traveller's Wife and Angels and Demons. People keep arguing A&D is better than the Da Vinci code... possibly it is, but is that really a good comparison? I mean it's comparing suck with suck no?

The Time Traveller's Thingy was just so melodramatic and it just wouldn't end lol.

the only thing that made Time Traveller's Wife bearable was the Cretan sun :) I read it while at the beach... after I finished some much better books...

A&D... well, we have it, but I've told Basti I'll beat him up if he reads that before he's read all the good books in our house. That'll take him a few years, and I'll certainly buy new good things before it gets to that point :D

And, I'm totally with you on Mansfield Park. It's a great book.
Even if my English Lit prof laughed at me when I told him I like Austen.

Yeah, the one who ruined Gulliver's Travels and Moll Flanders for me.

Some teachers attempted to ruin a lot of books for me too. Fortunately, my mum is a teacher of English and she always stepped in to try and undo the damage. The other trick she used was to tempt me to read a lot of books long before school thought they were suitable - it worked:-)

My uhh favourite moment, I think, was this idiot teacher who was meant to be teaching us "The Merchant of Venice"... and who kept insisting that Shylock was a DUKE. Of course I objected... and of course I was punished.
