Warrick stared at Nick. The grease from his pancakes was running down his chin, but he was too stunned to wipe it off.
“You and Sanders are…..”
“Yeah.”
“You mean like…..”
“Like that.”
“Wow…..” Warrick took a pile napkins and wiped his face. “How long?”
“Eight months.”
“Eight months! Why the hell didn’t you tell anyone?”
“About Greg or the gay thing in general?” Nick hid his blushing face behind his coffee mug.
“Both!”
“Well…. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to tell people.”
“Didn’t that piss him off? Can imagine Sanders keeping a secret for eight months.
Or even eight minutes….”
“He was pissed off.” Nick confirmed. “And you haven’t even heard the biggest thing yet.”
“You got something else to tell me besides that?”
“You want the long or the short version?”
“Short, please.”
“Someone’s stalking Greg, spying him in the shower and sending him freaky letters. The same guy also send me a threat and tampered with the brakes of my car, and I was just being questioned by Nugent for stalking.”
“And then the long version.”

“I can’t believe it.” Archie commented and leaned back in his office chair.
“I know. Who would break someone’s breaks?”
“I meant I can’t believe you and Nick are together.”
“Thanks a lot….”
“I didn’t mean it like that. You two have been flirting for ages, I’m just surprised you finally did something about it.”
“Yeah, eight months and it all comes out like this. I’m meeting Moore in ten minutes. He’s shoving me the surveillance footage.”
“Do you think it was Nick?”
“What? Are you serious?”
“Hey, I like the guy, but it’s weird. He showed up on the security cameras, we have only his word about the stuff with his brakes. He could have broken them himself and set up the whole thing.”
“And why would he do that?”
Archie shrugged. “No idea.
“Well, you saw the footage. What do you think?”
“I didn’t watch it. The security people handled that.”
“Awwww…. They just pushed you aside?”
“No. I was too busy.” Archie commented.
“Right…. Anyway, I better get going.”
“I thought you said you have ten minutes.”
“I did, but apparently Moore’s early.” Greg pointed to the other side of the hallway, where a tall man was leaning against the wall.

After Warrick left Nick pulled out his phone and dialled Greg’s number.
“Hello.”
“Hey, it’s me. Where are you?”
“I just got home. Moore showed me that security footage.”
“You don’t believe that, do you?”
“Of course not. Are you still with Warrick?”
“No, he just left. I’m still at the diner.”
“You wanna get some sleep?”
“Yeah, the whole morning’s been pretty chaotic.”
“Where are you going to sleep?”
“What do you mean?”
“Are you coming here?”
“Is that an invitation?”
“Yep.”
“I’ll be there in fifteen minutes.”
“Good, I’m gonna make some lunch and go to bed. You know where-” He paused. “Sorry, doorbells ringing. You know where the spare key is. Bye.”
“Bye.”

When Nick walked into Greg’s apartment, he headed straight to the bedroom. The bed was messy as usual, but empty. He checked the whole apartment but Greg was nowhere to be found.
Then he spotted something on the coffee table. Greg’s keys, and his wallet. Nick picked up the keys and examined them. Keys to the apartment, locker room, DNA lab, and his car. He went to the window and peered to the parking lot. Greg’s car was sitting on it’s usual spot behind the apartment complex.
He pulled out his cell phone and dialled. Greg’s cell phone started ringing on the bedside table. He cut the call and dialled another number.
“Nugent.”
“It`s Stokes.”
“Did you remember something new?”
“No, I-” Nick paused when his eyes noticed a white envelope on top of the stereos. “Wait a minute.” He put the phone down and tore the envelope open. Another stack of photographs. He didn’t even need to think to figure out when the pictures were taken. They were taken the week before, as the pile of DVD on the coffee table indicated. They had a movie night and ended up making out on the couch. The pictures were taken through the window, capturing the two men half naked on the couch.
Nick reached the last picture and found another written message.
YOU WENT TO THE POLICE. YOU DIDN’T STAY AWAY FROM HIM.
