Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 CSI Las Vegas Main List “So… What did you wanna talk about?” Greg asked.
“About us. I want you to come home.” Nick paused. “My mama knows about us.”
“How did she take it?”
“She was furious.”
“Oh…”
“Not about that.” Nick corrected. “She was mad that I treated you like that.”
“I see…”
“I see? I thought you’d be jumping up the wall. You’ve wanted them to know
the entire time we’ve been together.”
“And you’ve been telling me she wouldn’t get it.”
“I was wrong, okay? I admit that. Can’t we just try to make things work again?”
Greg tilted his head to the side and looked thoughtful. “How did you tell your
mom about us?”
“I didn’t.” Nick blushed. “Catherine blabbed.”
“So, she knows because Catherine told her. If it was up to you she would still
be in the dark.”
“Greggo-”
“No. Do you even see the problem here? You just said you wanted us to try to make
this work. Except so far I’ve worked to make it work. Your mom has worked for
it. Even Catherine has done something for it. Everyone except you. You can’t say
you want things to change and then wait for someone else to do it. It doesn’t
work that way.”
Greg paused, and he looked like he was about to cry.
“I’m sick and tired of leading a one man operation with a stole away in tow. And
if getting back together means going back to that, then…” Greg sniffed. “…then
I don’t want to do it at all.”
Nick had backed to the opposite side of the room and leaned heavily against the
wall. He waited a while to give Greg time to calm down.
“G?”
Greg didn’t lift his gaze from his feet. Nick approached him carefully.
“You’re right. I shouldn’t have put all the pressure on you. I was just so sure that
I was doing the right thing, that I… I just never thought how it would be for you.”
Nick sat down to the other end of the couch.
“That’s one of the worst things about this.” Greg said. “You just assumed your mom
can’t handle it. You should know her better than most, and you underestimated her.
And me. You didn’t think she could like me. I don’t which one of us should be more
hurt about that, me or your mom….”
“I know. You never hesitated to talk to your folks about me, and that made even
harder to think do the same. They were so welcoming that I was sure mine
wouldn’t be like that.”
“You remember las Christmas?” Greg asked. “You know how I spent my holidays?”
“Sure, you went to your parents.”
“I didn’t.”
“What do you mean?”
“I assumed we would spend Christmas together, and then you announced that you
were going to Texas. At that point it was too late to get a ticket to San Francisco, and
I didn’t want to spend my vacation driving there.”
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I didn’t want you to feel guilty the entire time you were away. And I wasn’t alone.
Bobby invited me to their place. Christmas dinner and all that stuff. And then I went
home.”
“Alone.”
“Yeah.”
Both of them were quiet for a while.
Finally Nick took a deep breath. “Greggo?”
“What?”
“Will you come back to me if I try to fix this?”
“I think so.”
“Do you still love me? I mean…after all this.”
Greg gave him a gloom look. “You know that was never one of our problems.”
“You remember your two week holiday next month?”
“What about it?”
“I did some grovelling and they agreed to let me use some my vacation days then.”
“Why?”
“I thought we could go to Texas together.”
Greg stared at him. “Are you serious?”
“Yeah. I talked to my mama about it. She’s waiting to get you there so she could
fatten you up.“ A small smile appeared on Nick’s face. “She thinks you’re too skinny.”
“I’m not skinny, I’m well formed. My forms are exactly where they should be.”
“I agree.” Nick paused. “So, is that a yes?”
“Yeah.” Greg said. “But you better hold on to your promises, or it’s over for good.
I mean it.”
“I know you do. And I mean it too.”
“Good…” Greg looked at the gap between them and moved closer to him. Nick let
out a relieved sigh. He wrapped his arm around Greg and pulled him closer.
“I missed you, G.”
“I missed you too.”
Greg tilted his head to give Nick a tentative kiss. Nick responded eagerly and allowed
his hands to wonder all over the familiar body. He gently pushed Greg to his back and
deepened the kiss. Their reconciliation didn’t get much further, because a pair of
strong hands grabbed Nick by his neck, pulled him up and slammed him against
the wall.
“Gary! It’s okay! Calm down!” Greg soothed the angry giant. “We were just…
making up for lost time.”
“Oh…. Sorry, I thought… He was on top of you and you were making noises,
I thought you were trouble.”
“It’s okay, he’ll get over it.” Greg grinned. “Maybe a bump on the head actually
does him some good.”
“It’s easy for you to say.” Nick pulled paper handkerchiefs from his pocket to clean
his bleeding nose.
“I forgot my notebook, and I had to come back.” Gary explained. “We`re introducing
our haikus today. The topic is `love in erotic context`.”
“That’s not really a good topic when you have just specific amount of syllables. In
my case it usually goes into overtime.” Greg grinned.
“Anyway, have fun.” Gary grabbed his notebooks from the bookshelf and headed
out again.
“You wanna pick up where we left off?” Greg suggested.
“I’m not sure, my nose is sore already….”
“You know you can’t resist me.”
“Okay, but stay away from my nose.”
