“Is she or isn’t she?” Warrick took a long sip from his beer.
“Is who what?” Greg asked. Nick hand on his thigh seemed to interfere his
discussion capabilities. The three of them were left behind to the booth while
others had scattered to the dance floor.
“The redhead.”
“Which one?”
“The other one. Not the one with the nose ring.”
“Emily?”
“Yeah.”
“What about her?”
“Is she free?”
“Yeah, she had a nasty break up couple weeks ago.”
“Sounds promising.” Warrick grinned.
“It was a pretty ugly. Her girlfriend found a hairier gal. A truck driver,
can you imagine?”
“You could have said that before!”
“You didn’t ask. And I had too much fun watching you prance around her.”
“I didn’t prance.”
“You did. And that move where you push your chest out… Pretty impressive.”
“Nick, do you mind if I kill him?”
Nick was too busy laughing to answer. Warrick let out a frustrated sigh and
got up from his seat. “I’ll go take a leak. Try to stay away from troubles.”
Greg giggled and pressed his shoulder against Nick’s. “You know, I’m almost
starting to like him. Probably because I don’t need to see him everyday
anymore.”
“As long as you don’t like him too much.” Nick murmured.
“Nahhhhhh, he’s not my type.”
“Good.” Nick paused. “Can I ask you something before Rick comes back?”
“Ask me.”
“What exactly did you say to Catherine? She seemed to be pretty angry,
and refused to tell.”
“Well… In a nutshell, I told him I preserved the right to pick the people I let into
my life and she’s not on the list.”
“I see…”
“Are you mad at me?”
“No. It’s your decision. And she’ll get over it, sooner or later.”
“Hopefully. You have to work with her!”
“I’ll deal with it. Your work mates seem nice.”
“They are. I kinda miss my old team in Chicago, but we’ve been e-mailing,
so it’s not that bad.”
“What’s not bad?” Warrick came back to the booth carrying new batch of
beer bottles. “Did I miss something?”
“No. By, the way, I wanted to tell you something.” Greg started.
“What?”
“Nick told me about your back up plan. The whole `sleep your way to the
top` ploy. I think I should give you a little warning.”
“A warning?”
“Yeah. If you try to sleep your way to the top, you probably wont get to be
a top.”
“Very subtle, Greg.”
“I know.” Greg grinned

“Pretty good night, considering my old buddies didn’t know my new buddies.”
Greg opened the door the his apartment. “I want coffee. And a kebab.”
“Coffee and kebab at two in the morning? Sounds exactly your kind of a thing.”
Nick commented and closed the door behind them. Greg had already headed
to the kitchen.
“I had some kebab meat in the freezer…” He dug the content of his freezer
and then pulled out a frozen piece of fried meat. “Told you!”
“What are you gonna eat it with?”
“Coffee. I just told you a minute ago.” Greg shoved the meat to the microwave.
“It’s the best after party combo known to men.”
“Great.” Nick smirked. “We come to your place and the first thing in your
mind is food.”
“Play your cards right, and your meat might be the next thing on my list.”
“So, I’m on the second place after a dead cow.”
“Don’t take it like that. I’m always willing to compromise.”
“What are you suggesting?”
“We got some time while the food is melting so how bout this… First shower
combined with a quickie, then food, then to bed.”
“You’re a pretty tough negotiator, aren’t you….” Nick grabbed Greg’s shoulder
and kissed him. “Let’s get you out of your clothes and into the shower.”
