Chapter 1

“I better start my show and tell while I still can…” Garcia took another sip from her wineglass and started tapping the keys of her laptop with frenzied pace.

“Where did you even found wineglasses with pink Fairies?” Elle wondered and pulled a chair next to Garcia’s.
“I got them from Kevin for my birthday. Anyway, get ready for a walk down memory lane.” The first photograph appeared on the screen. “That’s my YummyBrain and his ChocoStud after they moved in together.”
“His ChocoStud? I thought you always said he was yours.”

“We have a time share thing there. That was in their housewarming party, but I’m not sure if you can really call it that, because Morgan had already been living there for a while…”
“You know how they got together?”
“Yeah. It was a real love triangle and two hot guys fighting for our Brainiac, the other one was a total lunatic, but that’s not the point-”
“Then get to the point.”
“Reid ditched him for Morgan and he shot himself in his car.” Garcia emptied her glass and poured herself some more red wine. “While talking to him on the phone.”

“Fill mine up too.”
“Who knew a pretty face can drive men crazy like that?” Garcia stated, but her tone didn’t sound as cheerful as she wanted. “Anyway, next one. That’s Will, right after I made him and Kevin carry my new bed up the stairs.”
“One of those deluxe models you used to go on and on about?”
“Oh yeah… with all the trimmings. Vibrating functions, laser show and stirrups.”

“Are you lying?”
“No, just exaggerating. This one’s from little Henry’s Christening-”
“Next one.”
“You don’t wanna-”
“I’m happy for them, but I don’t really want to see that.”
“Why not? It`s totally adorable-”
“Good for them, but real people have better things to do than watch little Miss Barbie playing happy home.”

“Okay...” Garcia said carefully and snapped the next picture on the screen. “This one is a real rarity… in the interoffice trading the value of this picture is just off the charts.”
“It’s Hotch.”
“Look closer.”
“It’s Hotch in his backyard?”
“And closer.”
“What am I supposed to see in that?”
“No tie! No polished dress shoes! Do I really need to continue?”
“No, I got it. I really have been gone a while if I already got used to people dressing up normally. I always thought Hotch slept in his suits. With the tie on.”

“I know…” Garcia snapped the next picture to the screen. “And that`s my Kevin.”
“Where is he?”
“There.”
“Why is he wearing a Goofy head?”
“That was on our trip to Disneyland. I got a friend who works there and we got to borrow some of the heads.”
“For what?”
“There’s nothing hotter than a guy in a Goofy head and tight leather pants, carrying a pineapple tart.”
“Each to her own, I guess…”
“This next one is yummy. Look.”
“Why are we looking at that?”
“Tell me what you see.”
“An underwear add?”
“Recognise anyone?”
Elle leaned closer to the screen.
“Is that…?”
“Hotch`s personal hunkety-hunk of man-love? Yep.”
“At least his taste has improved since Hailey…” Elle let out a small giggle. She wasn’t sure how much wine they had consumed, but it was obviously limiting her inhibitions.

“One time folly of youth.” Garcia grinned. “And I got the proof.”
“How did you find that?”

Garcia shot her an obviously insulted glare.
“I can find anything there is to be found, you should remember that!”
“Sorry, sorry. Forget I said that.”
“Good.” Garcia returned to ogle the picture. “What about the other one? Recognise him?”
“Should I?”
“Not really. They’re brothers.”
“I guess abs run in the family.”
“Yeah, and both guys are taken.” Garcia split the rest of the wine between them. “It’s true what they say: All the big ones are either married or gay.”
“That’s not how it goes.”
“Right, I meant good ones. Remember Hotch`s little brother?”
“The one who didn’t look anything like him?”
“No, the other one. How many Hotchners have you met?”
“Well, I only met him once! Why are we even talking about him?”
“I’m bringing up to date. Both Hotchners have the same taste in men.”
“Meaning what?”
“Hotch got the older one and Sean has the younger version.”

Elle looked down at her glass and placed it on the table.
“I think I’ve had more than I should… Can you repeat that?”
“You heard me.” Garcia giggled like a naughty schoolgirl. “It’s so weird… Hot, but weird.”
“I think that’s an understatement.”
“And there’s one more juicy detail left.”
“What? Gideon fell for the jungle fever in his youth and those two are his bastard babies?”

“Nothing so exiting. Chad used to date our very own Pretty Boy.”
“When?” Elle chuckled and started opening another bottle of wine. “When I worked here I was sure he was a virgin.”

“Like I’ve said before: That face is an unfair advantage. If you get big brains, you’re not supposed to get a pretty face too, it’s not fair.”

“Yeah.” Elle sighed. She leaned back in her chair and twirled the cork between her fingers. “Some people deserve little help here and there to make up for everything else.”
“Are we still talking about Spencie?”
“Him too. I tried to call him, but he didn’t answer.”
“Try again.”
“I will, but… It’s hard to think that everyone’s moved on while I was gone.”
“You still haven’t told me why you came back.”
“I got a two week gig here, and I thought… maybe it’s destiny. Time was right and I had nothing to say about it.” The alcohol had finally reached Elle’s voice. It was turning low and foggy. “I wanna apologise.”

“For what?”
“The way I left. And everything else. When you’re on the edge you don’t even notice that you’re pulling other people there with you.”
“But you’re better now. Aren’t you?”
“Yeah. Guilty, but better.” She sighed and buried her face in her hands.
“You weren’t yourself-”
“I knew he was worried about me and I dumped all my issues on him, and then I left.”
“He’s doing well too.”
“But it feels like… Like I had a little brother and then I just ditched him. And then he moves on and doesn’t even invite me to the wedding.”
“They’re not-”
“I know, I just meant… I know he’s not that fragile, but I know how he carries guilt every time he can’t help someone.”

“Then call him again. He’ll be happy to hear from you.”
“I hope so.” Elle took a long sip straight from the bottle. “I really hope so.”
