“Hey, it’s me.” Reid greeted when J.J. answered her phone. “How’s everything?”
“We’re doing fine. I know holiday mode is not exactly your forte, but try. This is the fourth time you call me. We’re doing fine and we don’t even have a case right now, so we can actually go home on time and have a real weekend. Even Hotch left on time, and I was almost out the door when you called. Just enjoy Vegas and I’ll see you when you two come back. How’s Morgan?”
“I had to ban him from the slot machines.”
“Showgirls?”
“No, actual slot machines. He lost two hundred bucks in half an hour.”
“You better go keep an eye on him.” J.J. giggled. “Bye.”
“Bye.”
“I told you: Leave them alone. They’ll survive one weekend without us.” Morgan commented. “Are you ready?”
“Ready for what?”
“Dinner.”
“Now?”
“No, next week. Of course now.”
“It’s nine in the evening.”
“So?”
“Have you ever actually been to Vegas before?”
“Yeah.”
“Then you should know how nocturnal this city is. Hours from eight to twelve are the busiest in all the restaurants. Besides, I thought we were going to stay here.”
“Pretty Boy, think about it. How often do we have a chance to go out and enjoy the evening? Without the team or being too tired from a case.”
“Okay, you got a point.” Reid admitted and popped a peanut into his mouth. “But you can’t get a table from anywhere right now.”
“I already did.” Morgan grinned. “We have a reservation in half an hour.”
“How did you manage that?”
“Remember that helpful blond in the reception?”
“Morgan…..”
“Hey, I just asked if she knew anyone who could help. Then she made some veiled suggestions and I…..”
“You what?”
“I gave him a peek of the avalanche country.”
“What does that mean?”
Morgan chuckled. “She wanted to check out my abs.”
“In the middle of the reception?”
“No! I’m from Chicago, we always do our haggling in dark alleys.”
“That’s not funny.”
“We talked in the backroom.”
“And you took your shirt off.”
“No, I just lifted it.”
“And that was all?”
“No…..”
“Morgan…..” Reid’s voice went down and Morgan took a safe step back.
“Remember when we came back from the Zoo?”
“Yeah.”
“And how I was groping your?”
“It’s practically engraved in my mind. My face didn’t return back to it’s normal colour for ten minutes.”
“Anyway…. She thought it was pretty hot and she….”
“She what?”
“She wanted to know if there’s any chance of a threesome.”
Reid didn’t say anything. He couldn`t, because he was about to choke on a peanut. Morgan gave him few pats on the back.
“You okay?”
“What were you thinking?!”
“I didn’t say yes!”
“So you lead her on.”
“No, I just wanted to get a table. That’s all.”
“You mislead a young girl, who is still in an impressionable age.”
“I didn’t promise anything. I just said you’re a real animal in the sack and I gave him your number.”
“You did what?” Reid took a step closer. He looked like an living thunderstorm.
“Not your real number!” Morgan raised his hands to cover himself. “Have I ever told you, you can be pretty scary when you get angry?”
“No, you haven’t but you definitely made me angry. That kind of a rejection, based on a false sense of hope can be traumatic for a young person.”
“That part got you upset?” Morgan shook his head with disbelief. “You’re unbelievable.”
“Morgan-”
“I mean that in a good way.” Morgan approached carefully. “And she’ll recover. I just saw her flirting with the bellboy in the hallway.”
“Redhead or the brunette?”
“What?”
“The bellboy.”
“Redhead. Why?”
“I want to get the full picture.”
“Babe, we got twenty minutes to get to the restaurant. We’ll have a great evening, eat well, came back and spend the next fifteen hours in bed. Okay?”
Reid had to grin at that. “Okay. But you’re buying.”
