Does this mean he's not all... you know, quite literally scatterbrained?

No, he is! It just... doesn't show in how he acts, as much. But, yes - the radiation from his experiments has definitely done some damage to his brain and it has affected his thought processes, though not to such an extent that he's noticed it just yet.

Edited because I apparently excel at posting before I mean to ...

HAH! That's so awesome ... Dan with a British accent. I love, love, love this AU concept, and I'm really curious about how that would play out in relation to other canon characters as well, like Des, the O6 and all the other freighties he (presumably?) left behind.

*glee!* Thank you!

This Dan is kind of... um. I don't want to use the word jerk, even though he can be an arrogant little pain in the ass... uhhh. I think maybe the word to use here would be defiant. He didn't want to go to the island in the first place, but good ol' Ellie threatened him with the security of his job/reputation. His response to this was pretty much along the lines of "Yeah, okay, what are you going to do, debunk all of my research? You know, the research that others have already proved correct? I don't think so~"

(But then I imagine she pulled one of her BITCH I'LL KILL YOU faces on him and he went anyway.)

Now, because he's from the "WE HAVE TO GO BAAAACK" point in canon, his mother's telling him that if he doesn't go back, someone's going to have to die. His response? "Is it me? No? Okay then."

...so. Yes. Okay. He can be kind of a jerk. /rambling ( ... )
