I don't know if you have a preference for canon or not but I absolutely loved Rag Water, Bitters and Blue Ruin by leashy_bebes. It's a 12.5k modern AU.

I'm pretty much the opposite - I prefer modern AUs to canon, but this is definitely worth a read no matter what kind of fic you enjoy. leashy_bebes is an amazing writer.
