Sitting this one out

Howard just left for the 9/11 Harley Owners Group Midnight Run down to the WTC. This year I am not going with him. I'm not sure I can anymore. That monstrosity that started out being called the Freedom Tower is now known as 1 World Trade. My husband worked in the North Tower also known as 1 World Trade. I think that Liam would not only understand, but approve. There's grieving, and then there's wallowing. I hate it that we're all encouraged to wallow (the public hoopla does not help).

You're doing fine. And you're doing what is right for you.

I am thinking of you and Bree, as I always do on this day, and sending you my best.

I had to think about how to answer this. I don't think that going on the run, for me at least, is wallowing. I think it's honoring. But I also know I honor Liam in other ways so it's not necessary for me to go on the run. Does that make sense? I do agree that we are encouraged to remember and perhaps that does end up being wallowing. The media coverage does not help at all.

Thanks Griff. Much appreciated. :)

I found myself struck earlier today with the urge to wear Liam's tie tomorrow...but I'm not sure I have a dress shirt that fits anymore. :-/ (Though I imagine his ties wound up around his forehead as often as they did under his collar.)

I hope tomorrow is filled with pennies and Sting.
