Sweet! I can't wait to see both of those films.

I wish I could come over to the UK in time to see the LOTR Live but looks like that isn't going to happen.

Haha, I know, i'm being a cynical bastard as usual, but about these new fantasy films, I have to give a hearty "meh!"

It'd be neat to see someone do a crazy film adaptation set in and using some of the elements from jack Vance's "Dying Earth". ...or how about E. R. Eddison's "The Worm Ouroboros"!

I probably am being quite optimistic, I just find it hard to realise 99% of modern film are complete bollocks hahah!

hahah, yes, definitely optimistic .. suppose I could use a bit more of that attitude in my life! :P...However, I just can't escape it .. populist fantasy is just as horrible to me as other forms of mainstream entertainment generally tend to be, and sometimes worse because of the inherent cliches involved. I don't really have anything against Tolkien per se but he's definitely responsible for the rigourising of fantasy into crappy genre constraints and milk-the-plebs-for-all-their-worth epic series. And don't even get me started about Hollywood, who's heyday passed away a long, long time ago.

Maybe that "Pan's Labyrinth" will be interesting, though.
