This place has been quiet. Oddly so. Shino's always quiet though. . . .guess that's not all that unusual. Maybe the heat's getting to me.

Speaking of the heat getting to people, I think that happened to some kid's mother yesterday. For some damn reason, she felt the need to interrogate talk to me about 'faith'. Do I look like I need God's help ( Read more... )

Not that I need 'saving', but like Hell I'd ask someone else to do it for me.

I appreciate your attitude.

I figure it doesn't really matter whose name you're acting in, so long as you're doing good things. It's when you use some poor God's name to blow people up or abuse them for what nature made them that the trouble starts. You can still be a good person without faith, and there are a bunch of bad ones with it.

I don't go to church so much anymore, but I think Jesus said some worthwhile stuff, it just gets misinterpeted. You can't really argue with a guy whose biggest message was 'Love one another'.

Religion like most else is easily distorted. It's just pathetic when people use that as their purpose rather than thinking it through and coming to their own decision.

Good works are fine, but somewhat worthless if you're only doing them because someone else told you to, or because you fear a life spent dwelling in hellfire.

So one time I was at the bus stop right and I saw this tract or track or whatever it is, those little things that go on about religion, and it was saying how you needed to submit to Jesus because if you don't then you're gonna burn in hell or something. And I turned it over and on the back someone had written "Thanks, but my God doesn't need to scare me to make me want to do good things! ♥"

True story.

Do I look like I need God's help?

There are those of us people constantly assume do. I'm one of them and it's gotten to the point where I let them believe it.

None're their business what I believe, what I don't and how I lead my life, for better or for worse.

But if they feel like making it their business, it's only fair I give them my thoughts on the matter.

Bible-thumpers - best to just ignore them, they're too caught up in their own self-righteousness to see how truly foolish or bigoted they are. Trying to express any opinion other than a mirror of theirs is about the same as trying to talk to a wall, they just don't listen.

Heh. Not completely worthless really. I rather enjoy the look of indignation when I tell them I'm quite happy to burn. Perhaps they'll think again about broaching the subject. . . .

Unlikely - that will only encourage them to find others of similar mindsets in order to 'save' or exorcise whatever 'devil' they might believe to have hold of your soul. They always come back.

And in droves.
