So I'm scrolling down probably echoing the reaction of everyone else who looked at this post, going "Oh my god I HAVE TO SEE This movie. I have to see it RIGHT NOW! John Cryer being all rosy-cheeked! Demi Moorie in her mid-eighties Lucky-Star-wear rocker period! San Fran--OH MY GOD IS THAT MEG TILLY?" and it wasn't Meg, it was Jennifer, but that's still my SECOND FAVORITE TILLY, and in the process of looking THAT up I discovered...ELIZABETH DAILY? It's like someone took everything good/bad about the eighties and put it in a slap chop. WANT. NEED. LOVE. ...Will you marry me?
It is a pretty great mash-up, I agree, and a bit of a shame that it isn't more popular. Sure, it has a relatively formulaic set-up, but the ending was much less John Hughes and much more ..realistic/sincere.
Jennifer Tilly looks like a hipster wet dream in this. Spunky, Atari-playing, bespectacled. It's pretty awesome.
And while I don't ordinarily respond to marriage proposals done over livejournal, I will consider it.
I know! I saw that last night when I'm updating my queue. I'm thinking friends + table wine + rosy-cheeked John Cryer is a recipe for mega-mega-awesome. I really don't think I could be wrong.
