By "oscar-winning film," do you mean ANY film that's won an oscar? Because baby, there are a LOT I haven't seen!

Even if you go by Best Picture, I think I've seen something like 70% of them, which means there's still a substantial number that I haven't gotten around to yet.

I haven't seen "Wings" from 1928, but I did see - and love and adore and rapturously worship - "Sunrise" from 1928, which won the 2nd of the two Best Picture Oscars. Yes, there were two that year - and that was the only year there were two. They were separate categories, actually, and they were both considered Best Picture winners because they both honored the film's production, which is essentially what Best Picture is.

Picking favorite movies for me is like Sophie's Choice. Hold on, I need to pull up a list.

speaking of sophie's choice - i saw that when i was high school, or shortly thereafter and it was in the middle of broad daylight and the curtains were open and the window was up and i still felt cold, and dark and dreary...

my daughter read this in high school, then saw the movie (the older version) and cried...
she loved it...

I was really blown away by All Quiet. It's SO powerful, and the war scenes are SO horrific, especially considering it's from 1930. It's really amazing. The last scene... *cries*

Well, I just love ALL of LotR, so I was thrilled that RotK got all the oscars it did. Plus I actually met the guy who supervised ALL the special effects at WETA when I was vacationing in London. We were both visiting The Tower of London on the same day, I recognized him from the LotR behind the scenes DVDs, and I got his autograph. So I'm totally a LotR fangirl. I was at that Trilogy Tuesday thing, where they showed all three movies in a theater the day the third film opened. I was at the movie theater for, 15 hours that day. It was AMAZING - bar none, the most brilliant theater experience I've ever had.

1. GWTW: Scarlett O'Hara. I don't like her. At all. I think she's a whiny, spoiled girl who deserves every crappy thing she got. Add to that the fact that Ashley is a pussy and his wife (I can't even remember her name) is more boring than dirt, and you have a movie where most of the main characters I either hate or have no interest in whatsoever. Rhett is the exception, he's fantastic, but I can't for the life of me figure out why he likes Scarlett. So for me, it's a four hour long movie watching characters I cannot sympathize with in the least. Not my cup of tea at all. Basically, I couldn't "get behind" Scarlett, and it's essential that you do that in order to love the movie. End rant

ok, yeah - comedies should get more acknowledgement at the oscars...the academy seems to reward the acting ability in the film itself, rather then rewarding the entire movie...

did you like alan arkin in little miss sunshine?
i thought he was wonderful...then again, i loved him in the original the in-laws w/peter falk...i also want to say that arkin was in freebie & the bean - but don't quote me on that...

and yeah, the conversation completely bowled me over...i saw that about 15 yrs. ago and should definitely see it again...

yeah - capote was truly remarkable...having grown up watching the man on the day time talk shows, and in a few movies and hearing him talk - philip seymour hoffman did such an astounding job...truly deserved that award...

wanted to tell you that i saw a movie last night called the last of sheila w/james mason, james coburn, a very young ian mcshane and a few others...oh, it was a hoot...a little on the cheesy side, but lots of fun...
