2006 intake post

This poor journal--its existence makes me happy, but it takes a winning combination of a book/movie/etc. having an impact of some sort on me *and* the inclination to write to actually make me post about it. So I'm adding a running post to keep a somewhat more detailed record of what's coming into my brain. Dated to the end of the year.

Hey! I kind of liked the Fairy Godmother. Not in a "wow, that was well-written" kind of way, or even "wow, that story was so original & unpredicatable". But it was a pretty good idea. (Also, I recommend The Black Swan by her. It's loosely based on Swan Lake. With author's liberties taken.)

*laughs* I should hope you kind of liked it, since I read it on your rec. ^_^ (I think I did read The Black Swan, once--IIRC, that's not one of the romancey ones, but one that she wrote earlier?)

It is a little romancey, I'd say. But has been around awhile. I quite enjoyed it, but that's probably affected by my relationship with ballet and love for Tchaikovsky. *dreamy sigh* He writes awesome waltzes.
