Yeah, chilly is the word. With only a few paragraphs, you told a story and set a mood. That's inspiring!

Lovely fic. I love how you illustrate Slughorn's point that love can't be created. Manufactured, yes, but it's a poor substitute for the real thing. Which just makes me feel worse for Merope since she died without ever being really loved, but yeah. Great job.

Thank you kindly! I just couldn't resist rubbing salt in Merope's wounds in the end. She has to be the most pitiful character we've seen so far.

Chilling. I like the simple style - it works well in context, and I especially liked Merope watching Tom and Cecilia at the beginning, and then the contrast with what she sees in him at the end. Good stuff!
