I'm sorry the sarcasm bugs you, and the suggestion that everyone vote no matter how ill-informed or prejudice-driven. However, there is one big problem with the attitude that only the educated and highly intelligent should vote (a view you share with the late Robert Heinlein, BTW): namely, Leger's Second Law of Politics, which is that Low Turnout Always Helps the Noisy Minority

While I agree with you on most of this, Matt, I will diverge on one bit.
I have found people whose idea of staying informed to be watching Daily Show and Colbert Report to be far more educated about what is really going on in the country than those who watch only CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS, and certainly Fox News.
While I do hope beyond hope that most voters are aware of their cadidate's stance on most issues, I realize that may be too much to ask of most people. But I'd rather the masses show up to vote for an idea of a party than a brainwashed few steal an election.
There's a reason why cults never have huge numbers of people in them. Crazy tends to diffuse in larger populations. I don't want to see the vocal minority in either party get control in this election.
I'd prefer the masses step forward and chorus a giant "Meh." We might be better off as a country. In that way, I agree with the sentiment of the video.
You won't be missing your son's birthday. You can tell him you're celebrating it by working to make his future better, and he'll still get cake, just later. ;)

Vote. Vote Democrat, Republican, Green Party, Libertarian, U.S. Constitution Party, vote for any of them that you believe in but just vote.

Yes, "cults never have huge numbers of people in them".
But that's because a cult of sufficient size is called a "religion".
