Finished both commission jobs today. Arranged one, will record vocals and send it out in the morning, waiting for the other to be approved. Also wrote a future FuMP song. Now the only things outstanding are an editing job for a friend that has taken entirely too long and some lyrics for Phil & Kaja. On the whole, quite successful, and I hope ( Read more... )

Still recovering from a week of BlizzCon, Disneyland, and SIGGRAPH, but doing good. Learned some neat new stuff about Warcraft, met some great people, rode some uber-fun rides (Disneyland > Disneyworld by far), and have some pretty hopeful job prospects... Even got a reel out to ILM and BlueSky.

And I saw about 50 people at Siggraph with technicolor hair, so my cravings for a neon-purple coif may soon be fulfilled. Hoorah!

Oh, and I just finished reading through my favorite book, Biting the Sun by Tanith Lee, for the 50th time.

Even after the postal service lost my check to pay the cable bill, I've been in a wonderfully groshing mood.

Work work work, and gearing up to take a van load of GUYS to Ontario tomorrow for a weekend of Bachelor Party. Just finished ripping "300" and "Flash Gordon" down to my iPod, which also has all of Season One of "Wild Wild West", so I'll have something to watch while winding down to sleep over the weekend (assuming I'm sober enough to operate it)

Yesterday, when the heat index was somewhere around 100, the air conditioner in my computer room (which is basically an attic bedroom, under a black roof) died. All the repair places I called said "Your compressor's gone. We don't do compressors. And that unit is so old you can't get parts for it anyway." I'm renting, and the unit came with the house - it's a through-the-wall installation. My landlady isn't answering her phone. At least it cooled off some today.

I was prepared to just ride out my case of con crud (I am rabid about not taking antibiotics unless absolutely necessary), but it somehow knew just how much fun I had with the music at A/T/N, and decided to attack one of my ears. So now I'm hoping my doctor has an availability today. If not, it's an urgent care facility for me.

Going good. Will be interesting tomorrow.... Drive to/from Philly (I am in the NYC area) for a housefilk with a side trip thru Brooklyn (which I don't know) to pick up an extra person. The housefilk is going to be fun. Small crowd, lots of good songs from people I don't get to hear very often.
