Home at last from the Great Adventure. Quite wonderful adventure, really -- FenCon was excellent, spending a week with my mom and NOT sightseeing was restful, ConChord was great, and the travel itself was awesome (although there were a few mountain roads that kinda freaked me out ( Read more... )

The exhaustion from the con never hits me till Monday. Which is not ideal, given that whole "went to work" thing.

But it was a great con, wasn't it?

Tricky Pixie is the awesome! I've been following Sooj since she was playing the Memphis Gay and Lesbian center.

I'm in Kansas City until Nov 11, taking care of Mom. And I may have to go back right after the 13th. (Husband sees the orthopedist that day) Chemo all week, blood transfusion today, physical therapy tomorrow, neurologist Wed.

It's busy, but the hospital has wifi.

It's my mother's. Thank you. I'm her chauffeur, in-home caregiver and "house tyrant" as she calls me. Today it's chemo and a trip to the neurosurgeon to get the stitches out from brain surgery. We're having a difficult day, a little slow, a little slurred and not following conversations well. A high pain day for both of us isn't helping.

But we'll make it through.

Think I picked up a wee bit of con crud - had a raw throat for a day, and I'm only now easing up on the 1880s-ward cough.

Glad you're back and you had a great time. I'm doing OK and work is fine. I took last Friday off because it's my last chance to do so for the next few months with the holidays and the like.

I'm sorry I'll miss you at Windy. But I asked some questions about Chambanacon and got some wonderful responses. I'm looking forward to going there.

The new cat is doing fine, but my mother thinks I'm protecting her too much and she has to learn how to get along with the others. I won't be around to protect her on the trips I'll be taking over the next two months so best she gets used to it now.
