Thirteen dead in Washington, DC Navy Yard shooting.

Some of the dead were the much-vaunted good guys with guns: the security guards.

We mourn the dead, and try to make sense of the senseless. And at the same time, we honor those who, when there was danger, ran towards it and not away.

The shooter is one of the dead so we may not find out the real reason behind it. We should more for all of them, even the one most responsible. There had to have been a better way.

Remember the victims and remember the survivors and hope we can learn from this.
