A Few Kickstarters Of Note

  • TUG, a really fascinating RPG experiment. Seriously, watch the six-minute video on this one and see what you think.
  • Lawless Jerky, small-batch hand-crafted beef jerky with some great-sounding flavors. I'm going for the Hawaiian Teriyaki. Or the American BBQ. Or maybe the Bacon, Salt & Pepper. Only a few hours left on this one.
  • Adventure Maximus, ( Read more... )

Not that it's news here, but JoCo's Code Monkey Save World is still on for a few more days.

Yep, and they just made their newest stretch goal. I'm delighted for them -- it's been fun, and it's going to be more fun, and I can't wait for The Princess Who Saved Herself.

While that Gigabot 3D printer looks good, I'm still getting a Replicator 2 mainly for it's ease of use. I want to fiddle with the gears and mechanisms I'll be making rather than have to fiddle with the printer all the time as you do with all the other 3D printers. For now at least. Shouldn't be too long when you can buy plug-and-play 3D printers in stores.

Have you checked out Thingiverse? It's where people post their 3D creations so anyone can print them out on the Replicator 2 and other 3D printers. I like the buildings, going to print out an entire city and populate it with Lukeski's chibi FuMP caricatures.

Well, since you invited it...

My daughter, Renee (if you've been to ConFusion, or attended a filk in western Michigan, you've met her) is studying Music Performance at Western Michigan University. She's a soprano, and its her goal in life to sing in operas.

She's a Junior, with one more year of school left; and so the time came for auditions for advanced study.

She was accepted by AIMS (the American Institute of Musical Studies) as one of 100 students in the US to do an intensive 6 week course in Graz, Austria. She's working on raising the ~$9500 tuition and travel cost for this now. It's due by May 15.

She'll be holding a benefit concert in Kalamazoo on Sunday, May 11. Or, if you have a couple of shekels in your pocket, and you want to help sponsor the future of opera, you can go to her GoFundMe page and drop a dollar or three into the bucket ( ... )
