Happy Birthday, Pete! I've had the privilege of meeting him a couple of times, and the man is a living, singing National Monument. For a whle now, there's been a drive to give Pete the Nobel Peace Prize - I hope it comes true! (He also seems to be proof that singing protest songs is good for your health...)
As for anti-war songs... Malvina Reynolds' Come Away, Melinda; the overdone but still powerful Let There Be Peace On Earth; Peter Yarrow's The Great Mandella; the Doors' The Unknown Soldier; War ("Yeah, unh! What is it good for? Absolutely nuthin'!"); "All we are saying is Give Peace A Chance..."; right on up to P!nk's Dear Mr. President. (This list could have easily gotten too long for a LiveJournal comment...)
