Apr 18, 2013 13:52

Long, narrow band of intense storms along a front slicing diagonally from Missouri toward Canada. Under the gun: Indiana, southern Michigan, surrounding areas (esp. the Ohio Valley). Weatherdude at dKos has the 411. Stay alert, stay safe, check in when you can. I'm likely to bail out of here myself in an hour or three ( Read more... )

Yeah, and it's supposed to hit Metro Louisville just as we're getting out of a concert downtown. They're calling it to be bad enough that we're seriously considering not going.

This week has been so monumentally crappy that I hate missing the one good thing, but driving on highways through 60mph winds and hail in the dark in a crowd does not seem to be the smartest course of action.

Some days there just aren't enough Mai Tai's in the world...

Stay safe, people!

It was a hellva storm last night. I didn't get much sleep since the rain was so loud and I kept wondering when/if the power was going to go out (it didn't). When I left for work my neighbor said he couldn't get out. I told him, "I have to try." I was able to make it through the streets after a detour (in retrospect I shouldn't have gone the route I did due to a dip that made driving tense for a few seconds). The parking lot at the train station was half full and the train was a bit late. We made some extra stops and I got to see how bad the flooding was. Worst thing was the weather caused a problem with the switches near the station so trains were backed up for miles trying to get in. I got into work about an hour late and I'll probably have to leave early in case of more train issues ( ... )

So far so good, but it's not expected here until tomorrow night.

I'm going down to Portsmouth this weekend, but the severity of the storm will determine if I leave tomorrow night or Saturday morning at "stupid o'clock".
