Farewell, William Biggers

And who is William Biggers, you ask? Why he's the co-creator of this:

William Biggers has passed away at the age of 85. He also co-created Tennessee Tuxedo and King Leonardo, but it was with Underdog that he really got a foothold in American popular culture.

Rest well, sir, and thanks.

Ah, I remember Underdog quite well. Really good series, still holds up today (even if you have to explain what a phone booth is to kids now). Tennessee Tuxedo was also good, I can not imagine anyone voicing the character other than Don Adams. Rest well, dear sir!

Unfortunately, Underdog's super power came from a pill he took - verboten in the "Just Say No" era. Which is why you can't find Underdog reruns in any of the animation channels. (Sweet Polly Purebred was also a ghastly embarrassment, good for nothing but getting kidnapped and whining for help - at least Lois Lane occasionally had dignity.)

But I adored Tennessee's dumb pal Chumley (or Cholmondeley, to use the English spelling) the Walrus.
