When given a choice between Star Trek and Star Wars, I choose both.

I remember the days when there was neither, and there was much longing and dissatisfaction therefrom.

I may not have said it before but I'll definitely say it not. George Takei is teh awesome.

Star Trek has definitely kept my interest and attention in a way that Star Wars hasn't (for example, I have a whole shelf full of Star Trek tie-in books, but not a single one from Star Wars), but that doesn't mean I begrudge the Star Wars fans their interest and attention.

I liked the first 3 Star Wars films, and like everyone else in 1977 I was blown away by the special effects - but they never grabbed my heart and gut the way Star Trek did. (I was a pariah in my high school SF club for ONLY seeing SW *twice*.)

That is absolutely wonderful! Takei is both wise and funny. I'm a life-long Trekkie (I was a teenager when TOS arrived), and a more recent Firefly fan, but Twilight gives glitter a bad name :-(
