Dipping my toe in the water...

Oct 17, 2005 10:33

I've been interested in Harry Potter fandom for a while now, and have found myself checking writers' journals on a regular basis. So now I've decided to dip my toe in the water and start a journal of my own. I've added a few writers to my friends list, to take the bare look off things. If this is bad etiquette, feel free to tell me!

Friending people like that is perfectly acceptable.

Two good communities to join as well, to keep up on fandom, are hogwarts_today and daily_snitch. fanspeak_help is also neat - it defines those odd little acronyms and terms that keep cropping up in journals.

Thanks! I friended hogwarts today and the daily snitch (they seem to need special permission to join, so I won't worry about that just yet.) Fanspeak help looks particularly useful--I'm grateful for the tip!

Those newspapers you just want to add to your friends list - only the reporters can join. That way they'll appear to read when you click 'friends'. So in short, don't add the community as a member, just add it to your friendslist. Make sense?
