Blade

I wrote this for the prompt "Blade" at tolkien_weekly, but you will not find it there, because in spite of being cut back twice, I could not get it to 100 words - it stands firm here at 200, which was the best I could do. And it doesn't trespass canon, but it is quite visibly fileg-verse ( Read more... )

Beautiful! I love seeing this world through your eyes.

One of the (many) things that bothered me in the films was the lack of any hint that the Pelennor had ever been productive land. Part of the simplification, but still.

Thank you! And thank you for sticking with me all this time.

There is much about the movies I just make up - I tell myself the pelennor probably had had to be razed by that part in the war. But that doesn't mean I forget what my heart tells me should have been there before.

While I was writing this, I kept thinking about Nírnaeth Arnoediad (Battle of Unnumbered Tears) and how they buried their swords because that was about all they could find

*applause applause*

It may have been pulling teeth but it's great to see you writing again! And yes your path has veered sufficiently *g* Though I have plans for a final pair for Blade that will bring us both around full circle - at least, that's the theory.

You should post it at tolkien_weekly anyway - if it's the 200 - just label it 'double drabble, with apologies etc etc' They'll forgive the occasional one that can't be contained.

I love that icon and it's simple, so eloquent, line of text *sniff* - beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!

It's time I address Blade needing a memorial. (ok, I have done it once, but I'm not settled with it)

Looking forward to your net pair

That is lovely. It made me think of 'Now the green blade riseth from the buried grain....'

I just had to look for the lyrics - yow. "Love is come again, like wheat that springs up green." is just where my brain was, though in a different context

Thanks so much. I don't seem to have stories in me so much as snapshots, so that;s what I do....
