Drabble: Tharbad Crossing

Jul 12, 2011 08:56

I have been having trouble conquering whatever it is that has been keeping me from writing. When I saw the prompt for Swimming come up, I took it as a sign - after all, the very first story I allowed out was in response to a challenge about. swimming.
Hoping to break through, I bring you this -

Tharbad Crossing )

I remember how amazed I was the first time I learned that Boromir had actually lost his horse relatively early along the road. It makes his entire journey all the more poignant for me.

It always gets to me when Eomer tells how his horse came back alone.

Boromir though of Osgiliath - the scream, the chill in the blood, water closing overhead…

That must have come to the surface of his mind so easily...

What a hard, long, difficult journey for Boromir. This scene is well described.

At least he survived. And perhaps a Nazgul had been in pursuit of him? Or were they merely heading north on their own mission to find the Baggins thief, and he barely missed them? Neat juxtaposition here.
