Excessive organization is a stress response. It falls in the same category as people who clean their room and wash dishes when they should be working on their mid-terms. It gives them a feeling of control over their environment when they're not sure what to do next.

My vote = There's no perfect way to organize, so do what you can to get through. At some point, you're going to spend more time shuffling paper and devising ingenious ways to color-code your notes than actually working on the project.

It's a trap. Grab your word-axe and shred.
