Okay, so. I don't normally do this, but knockturnul and maladaptive encouraged me shamelessly, such that I was unable to resist the lure of genderswapped Fabre boys. Written for the prompt "my type" at 10_switched, where the premise is that your claimed character is of the opposite gender.
Contains snarky!Guy, female!Asch, young!Asch, Asch->Van.

Heeeee. Well, good for them on the encouragement. X3 Somehow Van/Lucia is a little less creepy to me. I mean, Luke's admiration of Van was identical, but... maybe it's just the sense I have that Van was attempting to cultivate a fatherly relationship with Luke, but, presented with the opportunity of instead encouraging a childish crush, will do that instead with Lucia.

As you know, I really love the bit at the end -- that shade of sympathy with Lucia, that level Guy is reluctant to sink to, that doesn't deny or annul his desire for revenge but instead draws a faint line in the sand, letting us know that leaving that desire behind is, in fact, possible with more time and thought on his part. It's nice, fits the timeline. ♥

...is it terrible of me to be hoping for some Lucia/Natalia? :3 Th, they'd be so cute and pretty.

I agree about Van -- although with Lucia it's more outright predatory, it's less unsettling than the more Oedipal relationship he wound up having with Luke, both "I'm a father figure!" and "We'll run away together, baby." He still gets to play paternal when she needs someone to be that, but there will be, uh, less mixed ways to get what he, uh, wants. (Nothing sounds right when it's Van.)

The next piece in the chronology will be Lucia and Natalia. :3 And while it won't be as outright non-platonic as it is in the canon, uh, I anticipate that they'll wind up pretty gay for each other. SECRET LESBIANS, as I told Sam. XD
