Trevor was pretty sure that if he had a hammer it would somehow find itself lodged in Faith's skull. Perhaps not on purpose, but at least he could accidently chuck it at her head just for the satisfying 'crack!' it would make. Instead, he just had to think of soothing things, like setting the interior of a Jewish lawyers car on fire, or maybe ( Read more... )

Faith was on edge anyhow. If she had to hear Trevor's fucking complants one more time, she was ready to kick him in the balls and leave him for the dinos. This was bullshit. He was as big a pain in the ass as all the Potentials.

She was on edge, and when she heard the snapping of twigs and the crunch of underbrush, she froze.

"Yeah. I heard it," she said, shifting her grip on the heavy piece of branch she'd picked up as a weapon.

For God's fucking sake, it was like something out of a horror film. Even the monkeys had gone quiet, and Trevor glared up at them as they looked down on the two humans with beady eyes that looked wide and for some reason he felt like he was at court, on trial, waiting for a sentencing. But he'd never felt as on edge for a sentencing as he did now, in fact, he never gave a shit about a sentencing, but the little itch at the back of his skull was screaming at him at that moment.

Wetting his lips, he turned, staring at the foliage with a dark searching look, and his back nearly seized and spasmed when an entire cluster of large bushes seemed to shake and jerk, the crackle of the ground loud in his ears as his teeth grit, and he thoughtlessly stepped back, not noticing he was moving closer to Faith and further away from the plants around them that seemed to have come alive. There was obviously something circling around them, and it didn't take a fucking genius to realize it had to be much bigger than what they had previously come across.

Adrenaline rushed through her blood and Faith loved the rush. Her heart beat faster and her pupils dialated, and best of all...she smiled.

"Come on, already," she murmured, tracking the movement as it tracked them. "Come get some."

Sometimes being a little unstable was a bonus.

Trevor's body was reacting similarily, but rather than smile, he just seemed to fold inwards more, as he was unsure what the hell to do. He couldn't think of anything that could possibly help with this situation, and while the rushing blood and adrenaline and tingly palms were a familiar comfort, the fact he was completely useless in the situation made things worse.

His jaw hurt from from his teeth grinding together so tightly, and after a brief moment of hesitation, the next rustling led to him pulling out his screwdriver and wrapping the handle in his palm, the metal shaft carefully protruding from beween his fingers. He wasn't sure it that would help any, but it was better than nothingAt last, the taunting shake of bushes and leaves seemed to stop, and it was all quiet. The monkeys seemed to be waiting, watching the two people with grim curiosity and beady eyes, and as the suspense grew, the tension mounted, and the wait seemed to become completely unbearable, there was a screach, something deep and high at the same point, almost ( ... )

"GPS, I don't fuckin' know. High tech shit. Look...It's an island, man. If we keep going in a straight line, we're bound to hit beach, right?" she replied, deftly tapping ash from her cigarette. "Besides, I can't see shit in this jungle. I see trees. And dinosaurs. And...snakes."

Like the green one hanging down off the other end of the branch he was sitting on.

So we either go higher and find out where we are, or we climb down, pick a way, and fucking go."

Trevor could handle snakes, as long as he didn't bother it he knew it wasn't going to mess with him and he barely spared it a glance, more interested in squinting through the tree canopy as he blew an irregular smoke ring. More of a smoke rhombus, really.

"Fine," he says in a deadpan cold voice, usually saved for authority figures. "But, if you lead us to another one of our mates like the last one, you get to piss on it." His voice had lightened up a bit by the end, but he was still somewhat serious all the same.

"Why'm I the fucking leader?" she huffed. "Been there, done that, buried the bodies. I don't need this shit, man. Work with me or find your own god damned way home."

He'd hit a sore spot and she was too fucking rattled to hide it. She'd lead the girls into that vinyard and lost them. Girls she knew. Girls she liked.

And as much as she hatd to admit it, she kind of liked him. Not in a sunshine and fucking friendship bracelet way, but you had to respect someone who'd whip out their dick to piss on a dinosaur. You had to respect someone who didn't back down. You had to...asshole or not, he earned it.

"You gonna?"

Trevor never 'worked with somone' unless he had good reason to. He didn't like people. It was just a thing, he didn't like them, they didn't like him, and everyone was generally just fine with him off in his gutter or out of the way, and usually that's how he preferred it anyhow. But, saving his own skin seemed like a good enougg reason. After all, he was with a woman who was completely out of her mind, if the dinosaurs didn't kill him, he supposed he wouldn't pass it by her to do the job herself ( ... )
