I am quite glad that we're finally leaving. This entire experience only reminded me of why I didn't want to leave the Badlands. Now maybe we can try to figure out what the hell just happened yesterday, or more accurately, how it happened, and why. This was obviously no coincidence and obviously someone wanted to get rid of all three ships and their ( Read more... )

Maybe it has to do with the close relationships some of our crewmates have with the 4423? I know that Al kid was pretty irrate over the girl that fell overboard.

Hmmm. It might have something to do with it. It was awfully convenient that the bombs didn't go off until we were all in the Badlands where there would be no one who could see what was going on and send us help, wasn't it?

It's a possiblity. I doubt the crew of the 4423 as a whole had anything to do with it, but someone ON the ship, perhaps the same one who planted their bombs, could easily have that information. Some people on this ship arn't very subtle about what they share with that ship...

This is true. It would be pretty obvious to anyone on that ship that people on the Winding Way had connections to some of the 4423's crew, and everyone knows that Admiral VonKarma was angry about the 4423 slipping away from his fingers and would have just loved the opportunity to get revenge. It would be easy to use those connections to their advantage.

The only question is who and why.

Who knows? It's just annoying.

True. However, if we knew who was responsible and why, we'd be much better prepared if something like this were to happen again.

Who would want to blow us up, anyway?

That's the big question. We're just a theater ship as far as most of Reial is concerned and even if they did know what else we did, we're no threat. Unless they believe someone on this crew saw something they didn't want us to see in Korpmork.

Well, if it helps, I've been studying the remains of the bombs. It seems that it's only a timer. There's no remote or anything else at all. Must've been a pretty long one to last as long as it did, and that's even assuming that the bombs really were planted in Korpmork.

I see. That's something to consider as well. However, Korpmork is the most likely time to have done it. After all, it was the last time all three ships were in the same port and it would have been the most convenient, especially with the Victoria II and the 4423 involved in the peace talks. The Winding Way was also preoccupied with a performance at the time.

Maybe whoever planted the bombs got on at Korpmork and only planted the bombs more recently? A timer that's been going for weeks seems pretty far fetched, but if we have spies aboard all three ships, that would also explain the timing of 4423's being sabotaged.

Yes. That makes a whole lot more sense. That would mean that anyone who joined us in Korpmork will need to be carefully monitored. That should at least be easy enough to do. Much easier than trying to trace the origin of the bombs themselves somehow.
