Oh this is a lovely start! It seems you did quite a lot of research for this fic too. Will there be more? Suyeong's prickliness is adorable. <3 I was also quite surprised that the man that Yeongha met in the bathhouse was Ashiwara and am interested in what will happen in the aftermath.

All thanks to the amazing power of my googlefu! :DD Really, it's absolutely amazing what you can find on the internet.

About Suyeong, though he mellowed out (a bit) during the Hokuto Cup, he really was quite a little brat when Shindo first met him. :P I tried to put some of that into my characterization of him.

And funny that you should ask about Ashiwara and the aftermath. Before I decided that I better stop where I did if I want to finish in time, Ashiwara had a bit role in exposing Yeongha to Suyeong. But I guess that'll have to wait for the sequel. ^^

I am so glad you like Yeongha's voice - I spent some time re-examining canon, reading HnG meta and some Yeongha fanfics to just get some handle on him as a character. Prior to issen4's request, I never even thought about writing Yeongha. But I'm glad it turned out alright. *g*

And about the sequel, heh, well, I did essentially promise Luce I'd finish her prompt. So, hopefully, soon...? *^_^*

It's really fascinating to watch the growing warmth between the two.

It's always lovely to have more fandom stalkers... *^.^*

I'm so glad you felt the warmth that I really tried to convey about the two boys' friendship. It was the top thing I was aiming for when I was writing, how much they honestly like each other. Even if they do get into fights and occasionally Suyeong hits Yeongha in the face with a pillow. :)

You definitely humanized Yeong Ha for me... which is remarkable, since I usually dislike fanfic with him. I think I was surprised quite a bit by who Yeong Ha's lover turned out to be - I thought it was Ogata (which I think was the original intention). And the bit about Suyeung and the tie was great. Would definitely like to see more...

Actually, originally the man in the sauna was supposed to just be an OMC. But then I thought, 'What the heck, might as well make a bigger production of that encounter and make it count,' and assigned a HnG name to him - Ashiwara was the first to come to mind. Then I had to go back and tweak a little of the description to fit the image of the character. ^^ Ogata did cross my mind briefly, but he didn't seem to fit the type - he seems predominantly heterosexual, barring extreme circumstances or persons.

I am really pleased to hear I've managed to make Yeongha real for you. High compliment indeed. =^_^=

ETA: And that bit about how Yeongha loosens Suyeong's tie for him is my personal favorite part of the writing as well.

Suyeong and Yeongha's relationship is really well portrayed, and how Yeongha hid his private life is also really awesome.

Thank you! *g* There wasn't much in canon about the two's friendship with each other, but I got the feeling that Yeongha sincerely cared for Suyeong - even if just in that little brother kind of way. As for Suyeong, well, he obviously looks up to Yeongha and is visibly (and loudly) disappointed when Yeongha shows his immature side by goading Shindo. And I've tried to put that into this story.

I actually had a little bit of problem in deciding to have Yeongha hide his sexual proclivities - after all, he doesn't seem the kind to shirk from outside opinion. But then again, human beings aren't the most consistent of creatures - and I figured in this Yeongha might still have qualms.

Well, it seems Yeongha (in your portrayal) does have a strong sense of duty to his family, so in that case he would be wary of exposing them to shame because of his homosexuality (I don't know much about Korean culture, but I've gotten the impression that most gay Asian males prefer to keep their sexuality secret.)

Great story! I really like the brother / friends dynamics between Yeongha and Suyeong - it reminds me of me and my sisters (do you have siblings?) ^^ Also, I like Yeongha's sister! I guess I always just pegged him as an only child (self-centered, spoiled) but I hope we see her again.

Oh dear, Ashiwara was the man?! I do think Ashiwara is gay (mostly because of his behavior with Saeki), but what are the odds of him... bumping into Yeongha? I love it. Ashiwara is the sort to speak without thinking, too, so poor Yeongha. ^^

...oh. wow. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Thanks for helping characterize Yeongha - that was most awesome. :DD

About Yeongha's sister, we actually only see her in the manga for one panel. Or at least, we see a young woman who walks in on Yeongha and Suyeong talking/playing a game, and she welcomes Suyeong, asking if the boy wants tea?biscuits? In any case, doing the hostess routine in an apartment that she obviously shares with Yeongha. I guess she might not be related to Yeongha...? But then one's mind goes to questionable places... XXD
