Millicent arrived at the Ellessar promptly at five-thirty. She was dressed in her black Auror robes, with black slacks and a black jumper on underneath - tonight would be all business as she was required to work this evening to assure the evening progressed safely and without incident for all of the Minister’s guests. Millicent had a sneaking suspicion that Under Secretary Umbridge had recommended her for this sad duty, mistakenly believing that Millicent shared her undying support of the current Minister

He and Narcissa had decided against dining. The disappearing price from the Ministry's advertising of the event made him wonder how exactly they were paying for food which was surely too luxurious for the tables of most guests. But they had eaten here before, and whilst the menu could hardly be called poor, it served only an expectation of food that looked as though it deserved it's price, but did nothing to excite his palate

Isadora wandered into the auction hall quite detachedly, clad in a gown of deep, arterial red. It seemed these days she was never running out of fine dresses...ridiculous amounts of money and nothing to spend it all on was most likely to blame.
Aimlessly twirling a silky strand of raven around two fingers, she noticed Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy strolling along together, ever regal. Smiling slightly, she approached them and dipped into a curtsy.
"Lucius, Narcissa, it's a pleasure to see you both."
And, it really was. Seeing them as real people now was quite a change from her earlier perceptions. No need to be the shy rabbit at functions, anymore. Appearances, and all that.
Augustus was dressed in one of his finest sets of robes. One of two he reserved for truly formal occasions. The simple black moved with him as if tailor-made. In fact, they had been

Daphne was dressed to the nines, she loved formal occasions in which she could show off her dresses. While she was out shopping with Augustus she had picked out this beautiful dress specifically for today. It's corset was well fitted and the gathers flowed well with her shape. The fabric itself was iridescent to give the effect of looking blue or green depending on how the light hit it. The lining underneath was an indigo to add purplish shades giving the look of water as she walked. A string of pearls was worn tight to her neck with two thin white ribbons flowing from the middle

Augustus sat next to her, making a point of looking around for the shock white hair of any of the Malfoys. He shook his head.
"I don't see them yet. It is possible their plans have changed." He noticed the frown. "If he said he would be here, he will be here. He just may be delayed."
If the boy did not show up, Augustus would simply pay an unannounced visit to the Malfoy Manor and have a few words with him.
Draco found Daphne sitting with her parents and Augustus. Stepping up to her quietly, he touched her shoulder, careful to make sure the touch was platonic.
"Mr and Mrs Greengrass, Mr Rookwood," he started nodding at the older members at the table. "Daphne, you look radiant."
She was beautiful. Everything about the dress accented her grace and beauty. Still, he was very much in control of himself. He was used to being surrounded by beauty. It didn't mean he didn't appreciate it. He very much appreciated it, in fact.
"Thank you, Draco. You look handsome, yourself." Daphne was happy that Draco found her. She turned in her chair to face him; her legs crossed gracefully at her ankles.
Mr. and Mrs Greengrass turned toward Draco. They were holding hands on the table, but only just barely. Aidan nodded at his greeting. He was sure to keep a close eye on his eldest daughter for he had read the article about Draco and the Weasley girl. He wanted only the best intentions to be toward his little girl.
"Nice to see you again, dear." Mrs. Greengrass greeted him. She looked at her daughter with a sparkle in her eye telling her without words that she approved of the young man. Daphne smiled.
"The pleasure is mine, Mrs Greengrass." He nodded, turning slightly to Aidan, "Sir, Madam, would you mind my stealing the attentions of this lovely lady here from you?"
He slipped his hand down and under Daphne's, holding it up. Without waiting for answer, he bent down and kissed her hand briefly, ensuring he did not have to look at Augustus.
If she could hold her own against her prejudices, he might be able to take her to the Bonding. How good an idea that was, he wasn't entirely certain, but...

As Draco again spun her around, she watched the crowd blur. Her focus was on nothing but the lights until she saw Pansy standing with another guy. he looked vaguely familiar but she didn't really cared it was Pansy.
"Crivvens! It's Pansy!"
Her smile brightened at the sight of her friend, forgetting that she was trying not to be seen with Draco when she was around. Much like a child would Daphne held onto Draco's hand as she moved quickly through the crowd to Pansy.

Draco's stomach flipped. Pansy. He could well imagine her jealousy if she'd seen them dancing. Only, he knew it would not remain in his fantasy. As she moved through the crowd, he tried everything he could to not have it appear he was being dragged bodily across the floor. Thankfully, with his longer legs, it was easy to regain control and move with her smoothly through the crowd.
She looked very nice, though he couldn't place the person with her. Nevermind. The identity didn't matter. She was obviously escorted. He wondered how long that would last.
Still, he was certain she'd seen them and he'd definitely wanted to be the one to do the noticing. This could not end well.
"Pansy. Good evening. I didn't see you arrive." He nodded to her, an almost half-bow as he released Daphne's hand.
Ron heard a murmur in the crowd, and turned his eyes from his sister dancing to see who could cause a reaction from the crowd. Harry was there, and Ron smirked slightly as he sipped again; typical Harry, thinking he could sneak in and NOT cause a stir. Then the glass stopped half way to his mouth as he caught sight of Hermione. Hermione, who looked like a vision in the dress of purple. She looked, well, like herself; one would never know she had been roughed up by her friend, Ronald Weasley. At least, that was what she thought

Harry was wearing his dress robes, as Hermione had set out for him. He had thought it terribly amusing that she'd chosen a bow tie for him that matched the purple of her dress perfectly. He thought it was sweet of her, but on another level he knew that she'd done it as her little way of asking him not to leave her that night. Not that he blamed her, he'd felt remarkably one edge since her attack, knowing that there could be someone wandering around looking like Ron... or anyone else they knew for that matter. He would keep close to her, knowing that tonight they needed to make extra certain that they watched one another's backs
