From her office, Ginny could hear a door being opened and closed. She looked up from the patient's file she'd been updating, slightly startled and reaching for her wand. The store above her should have been empty by now, and her brothers should be making their way out, as well. By all counts, mysterious noises should not be filtering into her office and disturbing her from the notes she needed to be making ( ... )

Draco turned his head to her and stumbled a bit. He'd forgotten the layout of the clinic and his back had been turned to her office. Instinctively, he reached out to stabilize himself. "Not evening yet, Weasley. Just checking on my investment."

He hadn't been around, hadn't responded to anything, that was true. Merlin, he'd mostly forgot he was even involved in the damned operation. Still, he needed something that was not quite as completely horrific as wallowing in more drink, and this seemed the best option.

"Still afternoon. Remember? Curfew? Or does your kind not think about what you've put the rest of us through?" His mouth was far too loose tonight, but he wasn't quite aware enough to keep it in check, or even know how loose he was being.

Perhaps it was earlier than she thought it was. She'd forgotten Malfoy would need to be home before Sun Down. Still, she wondered what made this the last stop for him.

"My kind? You mean, those who weren't idiots during the war and therefore don't need to be punished for their non-mistakes?" Ginny didn't know what Draco meant by 'her kind', but she felt slightly elated that 'her kind' were no where near associated with 'his kind'. It was the natural order of things, she felt.

Gesturing to the couch, she told him, "Have a seat." It came out more a command than an offer, something like how her mother would have offered a seat. She also didn't wait for him to get comfortable and instead summoned the tea-making kit from her office.

Draco bristled. Idiots? He wasn't an idiot! How dare she?

"Idiot? Well, perhaps this idiot should take his money back? Perhaps I should make you work off this money as if it were a loan then? Would that be more appropriate? I offered money freely, Weasley. Or does that not count in your book of non-mistakes?"

He walked, rather well all things considered, to the couch and sat down. "Everyone makes mistakes. It's only a matter of who learns from theirs. Don't make this into one of mine."

He didn't know what he was planning on doing if she pushed things. He only knew that she had a very feminine scent, one that Evie had worn as well. He shook his head. She was a Weasley. And she should be thankful he was deigning to be in her presence.

Ginny gasped softly when she felt Draco’s warm lips touch hers. Ginny hadn’t really expected that response when she turned her head to look at Draco or had she? It only took Ginny a few moments to get over her shock and return the kiss. The red head didn’t know why she was kissing Draco Malfoy as he had been her enemy most of her life. Maybe she was a little lonely herself and needed a comforting touch ever now and then? Ginny lifted her free hand to touch Draco lightly on the cheek as she responded to his warm soft lips. Why did the kiss feel so good but at the same time felt so wrong?

Draco groaned as the kiss was returned, then he paused, her fingers touching his cheek. Something was wrong. Something was terribly--

All thought stopped as he opened his eyes and saw red. Literally a halo of red around the head of none other than Ginevra Weasley. He jumped back, eyes and mouth wide in shock.

That she was pulling back too, didn't help matters. He was the first to pull away, right? RIGHT?

Draco had been the first one to pull away but Ginny was not far behind him in that reaction as her brain caught up with her emotions and told her how very WRONG her actions where. Ginny's hand went from Draco's cheek to her own slightly bruised lips as she finally pulled her other hand free which joined the first. The youngest Weasley’s cheeks and neck were slowly starting to turn red as she stared at Draco like he had two heads.

"That shouldn’t have happened."

Draco wiped his mouth with more vigor than strictly necessary. As soon as she was free, he moved down the couch to put room between them. His mind reeled. He kissed-- She kissed-- He and a Weasley kissed...

He shook his head, both to clear it and to emphasize how wrong it was.

"Nothing happened." He stood, turning away from her. "Nothing happened." As if repeating it would make it true. As if denial were protection against truth.

Oh Bloody Merlin, he'd, they'd. Had the world ended? Is that what happened? What was so wrong with him that...was he that drunk? Well, he wasn't now. Worked better than any sobering potion.

"Nothing happened," Ginny agreed as she actually got up from the couch and turned her back to Draco as well. The tiny red head couldn't look at Draco the same now, not when she had had his warm lips against her own. Just the thought of the kiss made Ginny blush. Shaking her head and silently scolding herself Ginny moved away from the couch before turning back to Draco.

"Nothing happened because if it did then that would be very bad. Like end of the world bad. So nothing happened. Right?"

Draco nodded, "Exactly. Nothing...happened." He crossed his arms tightly before him, making fists to keep from wiping his face again.

Still, he was shaken, if he'd admit the silly feeling to himself. She was a good kisser. The damned bint was a good kisser. And she'd kissed HIM. She did this. She started this.

He shook his head to clear it, then nodded. "And the world didn't end, so, nothing happened."

He didn't dare turn around. Something was off. Then he realized it. Curfew.

"Shit." He stumbled towards the door.

Not having to worry about curfew Ginny didn't quite catch what Draco was swearing about but she thought it was about the kiss. Sucking on her bottom lip Ginny watched Draco stumble towards the door. She was temped to go after him to help to make he wouldn't hurt himself but Ginny didn't think it was such a good idea to get to close to Draco. Not tonight at least.

"Nothing happened," Ginny muttered to her self softly as she tried to forget the sudden but delightful kiss. She watched as Draco open the door before calling out so he could hear, "nothing happen. Nothing to worry about."
