Albus Dumbledore was the Master Manipulator, bar none. However, Minerva had known him either as her own professor or as a beloved friend and colleague for over twice Severus' life-span.
The woman had learnt far too much at the hand of the Old Meddler.
By the time she arrived at his house on Thursday late afternoon, the rest of the 'visitors' of the household had left or were in the process of doing so. Minerva had wasted no time in starting in on him.
"Where are your dress robes for my Gala, Severus?" she had said determinedly. "You'll not be at my event looking like a vampire-in-training."
Considering that Severus, by that point, was already firmly in the sulks and just waiting for everyone to leave so he could go down to his cellar and pout sulk work, he was not in top-form for retaliatory snarking. Not that he hadn't tried, of course, but Minerva had been his professor as a boy, and he never felt quite able to suppress the sensation of errant school-boy whenever he attempted to defy her

After a long morning of preparation, Narcissa was finally ready to attend the gala. Once she was dressed she refused to move or do any sort of strenuous work around the manor (not that she ever did anything strenuous anyway). Instead she sat primly in the parlor with a magazine, checking her reflection in the large gilded mirror to make sure that her hair was still perfectly in place

Lucius walked into the parlor just then, knowing it would be unwise to upset his wife just before heading to the gala...or ever for that matter.
Lucius was dressed in his best robes and cloak, everything of the finest cut and material. His robes were a deep maroon, almost black. The buttons and cufflinks were lined with platinum gold, while his robes bore gold colored scroll work; just enough to show wealth, but not so much as to be distasteful.
Lucius took one look at his wife and smiled, "You look ravishing dear!" Then after a moment's pause, "Shall we be off?"

Narcissa's impatient scowl turned into a smile as her husband stepped into the parlor, looking very handsome in her favorite robes. The colors complimented her outfit perfectly.
"Thank you darling," she said, moving toward him to kiss his cheek. "And you look most handsome." It had been a very long time since she had seen Lucius all dressed up like this, and she had to admit that she had missed it. She glanced in the mirror one last time to make sure she was ready before getting her cloak.
With a flash, both June and Tonks arrived at a spot that was coordinated with the use of a portkey. Both the girls were clutching the dingy mug with their hands when they arrived, and both were dressed to their best. And yes, Tonks was in a dress.
All should gather around to hear the tale of the day Tonks wore a dress. Not just any dress mind you, but one that was both influenced by her mother’s taste, and accented with, to what her mother had hoped to include, Tonks’ personality. Truly Tonks’ mother had her daughter’s best interests in mind, but when did mother and daughter ever trulysee eye-to-eye. The dress was a great example of this difficulty. The majority of the dress was green, a true green of some satin material, which captivated the base of the corset-like top, and molded the skirts around her lower half. Obviously Andromeda had wanted her daughter to be a Syltherin at the Gala, it seemed. Like mother, like daughter? Uh-no. And the sorting hat had agreed. Tonks hated the green, made her feel like a bloody shrub

They may have been identical twins... But tonight one could hardly call Fred and George a "matched pair"... They were anything but, as the walked into the Gala

Fleur strolled up the walkway to the tent arm-in-arm with Bill while the silvery green of her dressed swished around her feet. She smiled and waved to various people, most that she did not know, but Bill, somehow, seemed to know a great number of people. She wore a thick, white hooded robe to keep the chill out, and underneath was her dress. It was a one-shouldered creation that tied on the top of her right shoulder, made with shimmery green French satin, the color was so light it looked almost silver and had a layer of orange chiffon that wrapped around the dress starting from her right shoulder to her waist. She wore only a bracelet and her wedding ring for jewelry and had sleeked her hair out shockingly straight for the occasion
